I’m in! (Probably)

This is going to be my first Ludum dare!

I will be using:

  • Lua + LÖVE + Sublime text 2.
  • Paint.net for graphics.
  • Probably famitracker for music, sfxr for sfx.
  • Mountain Dew for creativity.

I’m still pretty new to gamedev, so don’t expect too much from my submission.

Good luck chaps,

-Charlie.

Entering the Jam

Code by me, art by a friend.

Hey guys!

I’ve got some friends sleeping over this weekend, so we’re participating in the jam. Two of us are coders, so we’ll be producing our own games while our other friend will be creating art for us.

My tools:

  • Language: Lua
  • Library: LÖVE
  • IDE: Sublime Text 3
  • Art: Flash & Photoshop
  • Music: I have no idea, probably sfxr.
  • Sleep? Nah.

I want to be able to make something I’m proud of, but in the past I’ve been uninspired by the themes. I’m going to try harder this time.

Love you all, good luck!

PS: I’ll upload a timelapse of my desktop to my shiny new youtube channel:  http://www.youtube.com/user/charlieloftus

Our game makes ugly people.

One of the main features of our game – “Ten Ticks ‘Til Termination” – is the random generation of human faces.
By using a simple algorithm, our game is able to make a large number of unique faces. Below is a sample.

As you can see, the results aren’t pretty.

Keep an eye out for Ten Ticks in the Jam voting!

Watch my timelapse! (please).

I timelapsed webcam footage and screen recordings, chronicling our team’s participation in the jam.

Do not watch if you are offended by the following:

  • Nocturnal teenage boys.
  • Excessive alcohol and caffeine consumption.
  • Procrastination.
  • Smooth Jazz.

Our submission Ten Ticks ‘Til Termination placed #1906. Not great, but this is the first time I’ve been able to submit anything. I’m looking forward to next time.

Your submission didn’t exactly get 1906th place. Coolness is determined by the number of games you’ve rated. Your submission didn’t get ranked at all because it didn’t get enough ratings.

There were only 776 jam entries, so you could’t possibly place #1906… :)
