It is now possible to select rows and columns using the interface.

Humanity defends itself

A few important updates. Humanity now grows its various sectors of civilization each turn: military, science and industry. If any of these sectors reaches a pre-determined upper limit, the game is over. Also (and critically), the ‘friend’ of Tokyo now destroys buildings.

Humanity fights back

As usual, you can try it out online at http://friendoftokyo.scriptolo.gy:8080/. As for me, though, it is time to sleep. Good night!

Final art assets

I think I have arrived at what will be the final sprite sheet for the game. New additions in the last round are numbers for displaying points, and a compass for switching the orientation of the map (currently the last remaining unimplemented features). One of the fonts has been borrowed from the royalty-free fonts available at spicypixel.net.

Home stretch!

Home stretch; basically all that is left is that you have to be able to lose the game. I have a little less than 2.5 hours to implement that. Wish me luck!

Getting close to finished

Finished my first LD48!

This is really exciting. I honestly was not sure I could do something like this in 48 hours. The theme was really awesome, and the game was so fun to build.

Last minute additions include the ability to lose the game, which features three possible endings (collect them all). Also, some story setup and rules are now included at the bottom of the page. Last, but not least, the game has been moved to its own domain name. Check it out at http://friendoftokyo.com/!

And finally, here is a screenshot of the finished game in action to seal the deal:
