LD31

I’m in

Live from Wall Street, attempting to make a good game for my 3rd Ludum Dare

Our team is composed of me, Bernard Madoff & Gordon Gecko if he can make it to the penthouse in time.

Ps: Everything you will see here are poor attempts at humor, except for the game making parts, games are serious business.

Entering for the Jam.

  • Engine : Game Maker Studio
  • Graphics :Photoshop/Illustrator
  • Music : FL Studio
  • SFX :FL studio, Audacity, SFXR, a cat…

Postin’ some progress

So yeah now that I have some graphics, I feel more comfortable showing my game.

I got the basics on lock: jumping & shooting, because, you know, originality is over rated.

I will continue working on the look of the game for a couple of hours before taking a well earned nap.

Tired

It’s been a slow day, I had some stuff to do so I didn’t  code as much as I wanted.

Got 2 types of enemy and a new shot sprite, could be worse, at least there’s still tomorrow.

Your brain on drugs

Experimenting with glitchy visuals, might add it in the game .

DONE!

After 3 short days, I have finally finished my game,so if you wanna check it out: http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-31/?action=preview&uid=45653

I’ll make a lengthier post tomorrow and maybe a post mortem of my first one man project, I’m too beat right now.

Anyway congrats to everyone that submitted or even tried to make a game this week end, it’s hella difficult but hey,

It’s fun.

(Small) Progress

game

click if it doesn’t play.

Here’s my first report:

I had a hard time to decide on an idea, either they were too complicated, or not good enough. So after a while I decided to make a game where you are a soldier with no gun, all you can do is use your telekinetic power to pull objects and enemies toward you and launch them on other enemies or enemy buildings.

Turns out it is WAY more complicated than I thought (for me), this gif shows my meager progress.

Since I’m in for the jam, I still have some time, and I’ll do the maximum to have a game by then, even if it’s only one soudless level, I really don’t want to quit.

Sadly, I quit.

bye

I know I said I wouldn’t, but after 58 hours I think I have to.

A lot of stuff went wrong: I wasted a day and a half on an idea that was too complicated for my skill, I decided to scrap the project and to start another, but here I am with a game with no gameplay, no sound and no weapon, conventional or otherwise.

I still learned some new stuff while programming and I still had some fun so I guess there’s that, but even though I thought the theme was good I felt that all the ideas I had were bad.

But I still intend to do it all again in august, I’ll use my time to get better at programming.

To the people that submitted their games, congratulation, to the people still working, good luck, and to the others, there’s still LD 33.

I made the same mistake. This was suppose to be my first LD, and I was very excited, but ended up having so many ideas and lost most of my time in it. I am not stopping because I still have time, but I am not sure I’ll be able to submit.
