LD26

In like Flynn.

Welp damn I’m finally in. After years of missing many many many many LD48s I’m finally able to get away from my day job to do this.

I’m doing something in Unity and I promise you it’ll be a train wreck. I might even stream this train wreck.  All I do know is there’s going to be 48+ hours of good whiskey, bad coding and foul comments. Stay tuned for my magnificent shit-show!

UPDATE:

Declaring those tools I’m using.

Engine: Unity
Addons:
Aron’s A* Pathfinding
EX2d for sprites
Bob’s iTween and iTween path because I’m lazy
Probably going to write a level populator and share it before friday.
Sound: Sfxr for sound
Whiskey: Bulleit Bourbon
Pictures: Gimp and Pickle
Coffee: Stumptown via Aeropress
Food: Teriyaki from across the street
Companionship: The voices in my head and my stuffed Cactaur for debugging.
Streaming: Video of a train wreck and sounds of me drinking and cursing.

Tools Update!

Oh so hey look I bought a thing! Since I’m using Unity all the time I chipped in my big fat barista money to buy tk2D. So no longer using ex2D (which sucked anyway) and now I’m using something much nicer!
Also bowties! I may not be wearing pants but I’ll be decked out in amazing neck wear!

Quick Workspace post before we begin!

Here’s what my setup looks like:
Workspace setup

Golden Apples for worshiping (red for eating)
Whiskey for drinking (coffee is brewing)
Keyboard for typing
Window for yelling
Mac for a 3rd screen.
Mic for yelling (at you people)

All is good. I should take off these pants now, shouldn’t I?

Finished; figured I’d post about it.

So yea he look I finished despite all that whiskey (very little whiskey was consumed in the creation of this product.)

Gotta say as my first LD I’m very proud that I finished in time. Also this is the first game I’ve finished in about 10 years; so that’s awesome. As for the game I’m less than happy with it. It’s a game, yes, just not a good one.
It does have a start and end (and a middle). 3 levels. Background music. Animation. A sound effect (yes one.) and a potato.
I did get to learn a lot in the process. Planning is one of those things I need to work on.

Here it is!

What I did get was a better understanding of all my tools and a desire to make something more.

So there’s my first (in a long long while) game. Enjoy it. I’m going to make something better!
