The Road… to…

Hrm… wonder where it is you’ll go.

Well I got started a bit late.  Started thinking about the theme when it was announced last night… pondered for a few hours and then went to bed.  Got up at about 10:30 and started, with a few cups of coffee and a few Diet Cokes.  Pre-work Desk-Shot:

There\'s a clue in there about where you\'re going.

Yeah I typically sit on the floor.  I dunno.  If you squint you might get a hint about what road you’re on in my game.  Anyway — something more fun to look at:  In progress screenshot!

That there is a photograph of my nephew’s 63 Lincoln Continental black on black with suicide doors. (toy car) wooha.

well, great use of a found object and camera, did you process it a little ? Looks great nonetheless.

nope… just cut the edges off with alpha… oh, and I added brake lights… but those aren’t in the screenshot. Thanks though for appreciating my amateur digital photography and GIMP-skills. :)

Someone HAS to see and get my clue…

I must be missing it. I see a book, but I don’t recognize it.

OK, let’s rock this beast!

I’ll throw my hat in again…

Last time I didn’t finish anything to the point that I could submit, but this time… this time it’ll be different.

48 hours… one game.  One laptop on a table just large enough to support it.  One brand new apartment that’s really frosty most times of night.  It’s on.

Is GB coming?  I haven’t seen his declaration post yet.  I still owe him a prize for guessing the theme to my last (failed) entry-in-the-making.

My tools: Vis Studio 2005, Torque 2D, perhaps my own ‘fade’ behavior for said engine just because it’s ridiculous to re-write a ‘fade’ behavior… Photoshop 6.0, possibly a microphone and a handful of Korg toys, a Harman vocal effects doodad, wikipedia, and Lieutenant Dan.

I look forward to the theme and checking out all the entries.

I’m in!

Some TGB ‘libraries’ that I might use.

As per compo rules, I thought I’d make available some random functions in torquescript that I might use since I don’t feel like rewriting such nonsense.  They provide stuff like “generic button” behavior, gotoMount, changing the mouse cursor, having a splash screen, and “fade in / out”.  No game code in there, I swear!  Just some nice utility functions that I’ve come to rely on a bit heavily.

MouseOverCursorChange.cs belonged to Stanley D. Chatman, and

splashScreen.cs belonged to Mike Lilligreen, both of which were freely available TGB resources, and I may have modified either of them (so don’t blame anything on those two guys!).

I put everything in a zip in case anyone wants to take a peek: The Zip

Truckin’ along slowly.

Here’s my food collage:

And a bit of progress!  MAN that programmer art is looking nice… :(

Look out for the advancing wall of… doom?

Grey Goo Final

Here’s the final version of my attempt at a 48 hour game — Grey Goo!

Link to File

It’s my first successful (ish) Ludum Dare!  Yaaaaaaaay!

edit: updated file to fix framerate issues (before the deadline!)

edit: Yes I know it isn’t very WALL-y… and yes, the nano virus scores incorrectly… sorry about that.

edit: also… 3100?  Come on… you can do better…

edit: There is no win condition… but it’s possible to play indefinitely and score bazillions of points. pkeod did it!

Oh and are there any shortcut build keys? They’d be a god-send.
