The Creator Returns

Hey everyone. Oborin’s back for another round.

I don’t know how, but Ludum Dare always seems to sneak up on me. I always tell myself I am prepared for anything that Ludum Dare throws at me. Except, apparently for Ludum Dare itself! I looked at my calendar and it was less then a week away.

I must say I really enjoyed the last Dares theme of One Room. I honestly don’t know why people were so bothered by it. It was a good theme that forced people to abide by a specific rules. I personally think it separated the creative ones from everyone else. The creative ones worked with what they had while the rest sort of complained that they couldn’t use there idea’s. If you can’t use an idea, make one. The fact that people are still so worked up about it actually makes me feeler stronger about that particular theme and the fact that I’d be willing to do it again in a heartbeat.

However, that said, I am really liking a lot of the themes this time around too. I hope its something that forces me to think a little like the last one did. It’s no fun if you’re just allowed to run rampant. I mean, yes it can be fun. But it if it doesn’t stretch your creativity at least a little, or force you out of your comfort zone it’s no fun!

So let’s all have a good time regardless of the final theme and just do our best.

Also for those who may have taken offence to my statement about the division between the creative ones and everyone else, I am merely stating my opinion, so I apologize for any offense I may have caused. But I do stand by my opinion.

Anyway, I’m in. I only have a day, but I’ll do my best!

Last Dare’s theme was Entire Game On One Screen not One Room. The reason people didn’t like it is because it restricted the possible games too much. People want a theme that gives them an idea, not a theme that gives them a very difficult restriction. No offense to you of course, I just wanted to explain.

Reporting in for more Ludum Dare action.

This will be my 5th Ludum Dare, of which I’ve completed one entry. I always learn a ton from doing these whether or not I have the time to finish my project.

Engine/framework: Either Unity or Haxe+Haxeflixel.

Graphics: Blender, PyxelEdit, Krita.

Sound: Bfxr, FamiTracker.

I’m In With A Vengence

  • Language: C++ with SDL or Unity with C#
  • Audio: FL Studio Free
  • Image Editor: Gimp / Photoshop CS2
  • Drink of Choice: Rootbeer

I can’t wait for this Ludum Dare. I’m going to be using either C++ with SDL or Unity; I haven’t decided yet. The thing that I’m most excited about is my new Midi Adapter for my Piano so I might finally be able to get some audio into my game. I plan on all the sounds in whatever game I make to be from the piano so expect it to sound nice :) To everyone else participating I say in the terms of counter strike: Good Luck. Have Fun

El_Cabaro and SuperDisk are in

Me and my pal El_Cabaro are coming back for this Ludum. Hopefully we can get something more successful than last time’s entry (Coinslot: https://youtu.be/VyVGBvslfBo?t=4m10s), even though I’m still really proud of it.

New user incoming!

I’ve never participated in a Ludum Dare before, so I thought I would give it a try. I’ve participated in music competitions before, and they always ended up being really rewarding, even though I often didn’t win. Even if I don’t place anywhere near the top, it’ll still be fun to work within the confines of whatever the theme ends up being. Adding to this, I’ll be using Megazeux because I have far more experience there than in Unity. This should also pose an interesting challenge given that MZX is limited and outdated… but in my book that only adds to the fun. Let’s do this thing!

  • Engine: MegaZeux
  • Visuals: MegaZeux built-in Char Editor
  • Audio: Renoise, bfxr

I’m in again!

I don’t have a fully free weekend, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who will not have the full weekend available so I’m not complaining.

I used Unity 4 last time, and I’m tempted to use Unity5 this time.  But I think I’d like instead to use GMStudio instead.  I know GMStudio better I think, but I know 3d graphics better.  I’m thinking it might be more intersesting(if I don’t frustrate myself too much) to do pixel art for graphics, but frankly as much as I try I just can’t seem to get that to click, while “acceptable” 3d models, even textured and animated, come much easier for me for whatever reason.  So I might just use GMStudio and work with pre-rendered 3d models for sprites.  I’m undecided….can you tell??

So, my tools…

Either GMStudio or Unity 5 engines.

Either Blender for 3d models, Blender for 3d prerendered sprites, or Cosmigo Pro Motion(love it) for 2d graphics.

BFXR for sounds most likely, as long as I can make them fit the game.  Otherwise, I may have to find some online and opt out.

LMMS for music, or find some online and opt out.

My entry last Jam was an Asteroids clone, which was the only thing that I could come up with to fit the one room theme thing.  Maybe this time I’ll come up with something better.

Good luck all, and as the guy in the keynote said, have FUN!!!

IN!

Yay! It was last year this time that I did my first Ludum Dare and I’ve been hooked ever since! This will be my 4th Ludum Dare.

Languages: C#
Frameworks: MonoGame
Audio: SFXR/Audacity/BoscaCeoil
Graphics: Gimp/Paint.NET/aesprite

I’d really like to break the top 100 in some category this time. I’m going to try my best!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

I’m think I’m finally ready to say I’m in!

A coworker and I will be participating in the 72 hour jam.  I’ve got experience creating games for the last 7 years or so, but this will be my first LD and first attempt to finish something in just a weekend, so I’m very excited.

Planned toolset:

Engine: Haxe/Haxeflixel

Graphics: Pixen, PyxelEdit, Photoshop

Sound: Good old bfxr

Other: a whole lot of Rockstars and Red Bulls

I’ve got work off and I am ready for Round 5!

It’s that time again, woo!

This year me (programmer designer) and my friend Kelton Hallo (Musician) hope to reproduce our success in LD30 with our game O.R.B (we got 3rd in audio!?)!

Ludum Dares are my favourite part of the year and I am so happy I’m up to my 5th in a row. 😀

Goodluck everybody and happy Jamming! 😀

Hello!

Hey everyone, looking forward to LD 32!

I’m in!

I’m in! And I am really excited for my first Ludum Dare!

I will be doing the 48 hour compo, and hopefully I will make something really cool for me and for anyone who plays it. 😀

My source will probably be hosted on GitHub, and for the game, possibly Google Drive.

Tools:

  • Java/Eclipse IDE
  • LWJGL + SlickUtil
  • Paint.NET
  • SFXR

suppose its time to do the in post

So making a game with a new friend. I have done one other Jam, though it was a flop in the end. This is his first one. Hoping to finish this time at least.

going to be using Unity 5 (thanks to a dice roll)

with lmms and bfxr for audio,

blender and/or krita for art (may move to something like aesprite or graphicsgale) depending on what we come up with.

currently no other things are planned though it may change depending on how things turn out during the time.

I’m in!

This is my first jam, and I’m excited!

Im in.

Hey this is my im in post so yeee.

Tools for my game:

GameMaker

Pixen

Soo… Lets Do This

I am In!

Having failed to submit anything for LD #30, my attention had been turned away from the game-dev scene for a while. Now that my ‘other life’ has settled into a more stable routine, I’m ready to dive into Ludum Dare again. This shall mark my first official entry for the competition.

I’ve already submitted a warm-up entry and I feel totally ready and prepared for this round. What happened last August shall not happen again!

I hope you are all as excited for this as I am. I wish you all good luck, and remember to have lots of fun!

Obligatory I’m in! Post

I’m very excited for this LD and I will be participating in the Compo.

This time around I will try to focus on the art side(graphics, sound, story) and if it fits the theme I will opt for something like a first person exploration game.

*prays* Please be a better theme than “Entire game on one screen” and “10 Seconds” *prays*

Tools I will use:

  • Unity 5(WebGL export ftw)
  • Blender
  • Photoshop
  • FL Studio + Massive plugin

Hope you all have a fun time making games and I’m looking forward to playing all these awesome games!

I thought “10 seconds” was quite a good theme :/.

I’m in!

This will be my 13th LD48. My toolset:

  • Language: C++
  • IDE: Visual Studio
  • Engine: Unreal Engine 4
  • Graphics: Blender, GIMP
  • Sound: Sfxr, Audacity

Let’s do this!

LD32 – Obligatory I’m In Post

Obligatory “I’m in” post for like the 6th/7th time.

First of all I’m very disappointed with the internet (as detailed here). But apart from that the themes this time around are pretty good and I’m really looking forward to which one comes up.

Tools for the weekend:

– Engine: Unity3D
– Language: C#
– Graphics and Modeling: Photoshop and Blender.
– BGM and SFX: abundant audio and Bfxr

These may change over the duration of the LD compo.

Atomic Vikings are in …

viking

Atomic Vikings are IN again

This is our 5th Ludum Dare together as a team. We are having now 5 vikings in the team. 3 coders ( C64Gamer, Metaldemon & Zhoot) and 2 artists (Riina & Olivebates) We are really happy that we can join again into this awesome jam. Last LD we did rank #10 in overall and that was amazing for us. Let’s see what we can do this time.

There is one new thing coming up. As you all know we are a bit “oldschool” an we are coding all over stuff from the scratch on in Java.

We had always problems in the past to get a web version running or it took hours to create a playable desktop version. This days are now over. C64Gamer was sitting down the whole weekend and he has created a complete automated deployment system with Maven + Jenkins + Git.

What does that mean ? It means that you are able on every commit we do in the master branch of our git system to play 2 min later the newest version directly on our website. YEAHH!!  MAGIC :-) Url will be posted soon…

We are using:

  • Java / LibGDX
  • Photoshop
  • Inkscape
  • Spine2D
  • Maven/Jenkins/Git
  • FruityLoops
  • IntelliJ/Eclipse

Good luck and

LET’S MAKE GAMES!!!!

PS. Yes Atomic Vikings will play your games again after the Ludum Dare 32 is over. Wait for the extra post. :-)

I’m in!

Second LD for me. In spirit of Sol’s keynote we might try something different and use Unity5 this time. There is still time left to learn… everything.

Everybody have fun!

cheers
