Iron-on laptop bag patches (for donations)

ludumDare_andGodot.png

So, I printed up a bunch of iron-on patches. My intent is that for the next jam, I'll give them out as gifts to fellow jammers (I was thinking of having it be for the people who give the best feedback for my submission)

The patches are cheaper the more you make, so I just ordered a whole much of them and threw them on Etsy. If you'd like to buy one, I'm donating all profits to Ludum Dare.

FYI the Godot patch in the picture is also for sale, and I'm donating the profits for that to the Godot Foundation (€50 donated so far).

Help Wanted!

With less than 75 days to go until LD56 @Pegasys and I are just starting our preparations for October. We've made 7 games together now. 6 in a row. There are some entries we are really proud of but it's clear to us there are areas we lack in. Namely as artists and musicians.

We are programmers both as hobbyists and as our jobs but I've always been terrible at drawing and while @Pegasys has valiantly taken up the mantle to be our artist thus far we both agree having a skilled artist and musician would really help make our games that much better and much quicker. @Pegasys currently spends pretty much the entire last day just making art. And so we're asking for your help. We mostly make 2D games with a pixel art aesthetic so someone with experience in that would be ideal.

Here's a few examples of the kind of art style we typically do. Although given your artistic talents will be far beyond ours we are open to different styles and suggestions on what makes the best cohesive art style

If anyone has these skills but doesn't yet have a team to work with please let us know and we can work together in October. My contact details are in my profile, I'm not sure if you can post links here so please check there for more information.

In the meanwhile, we released our Game on Steam!

Hey folks!

We just released the Steam Page for our game, Pixel Nightfall, that we've been working hard on it for the past year almost. It's being done from scratch using Cave Engine and a team of 3 developers. I would appreciate it a lot if you could help us make this a reality by adding it to your Steam Wishlist. Thanks!

Pixel Nightfall on Steam

My first jam game, made for Ludum Dare 52, remade in Godot!

Last year I participated in Ludum Dare 52 (theme: Harvest), which was my first game jam ever! I ended up making Down To Earth as a Compo entry.

I've been getting back into gamedev these past few months, and I've been learning Godot (The original Down To Earth was made in Unity)! After participating in a few game jams, I wanted to test my Godot knowledge, so I remade Down To Earth in Godot.

Images broken on LDJAM site :(

It looks like images aren't currently loading for me on the site. They seem to be hosted at https://static.jam.host/ which seems to be giving an error... Does anyone else see the same issue?

My LD44 entry made in 9 hours is now launching as a board game on Gamefound!

It's been 5 years.

For LD44, I had abandoned an idea I was holding onto for far too long, had to discard everything, and with 9 hours left on the clock, in a last-ditch effort, I created Rising Pyramid. It was not very polished and didn't look very good, but the gameplay was there, and it was fun!

ldsneferu.png

I liked the core mechanic and geometry of the dominoes in a pyramid, and wanted to expand upon it, but realized it is better suited for a tactical board game than a videogame. I created a prototype and embarked on a journey of board game development. Over the years, I playtested with bunch of different groups from the hobby and the industry alike, iterated and experimented, ditched a year of development and choose a different path after a single game with my board game design guru Vlaada, made digital implementations on Tabletop Simulator, Board Game Arena, and my custom board game engine. I got together with a friend of mine who owns a local board game publishing company, had an actual artist make art for the game, consulted historic accuracy with an egyptologist, and we are launching a Gamefound campaign for Sneferu right now! We will also be presenting the game at Essen Spiel, and international distribution will follow soon after.

Also, you made it into the rulebook!

My theme...

I think this would make lots of variety.

Only 2 suggestions... That's great!

I've been saying this for years that I would personally make it only one suggestion per user to get rid of slaughter clutter. It's so hard to actually genuinely vote for up to 3000 themes. It's only 2/3 now so it's great!

Do you guys get the reference?

I used Godot to make a tool for my real job

Just thought people might find it interesting, maybe even useful for certain applications (and I'd be interested in hearing them).

I'm a Salesforce developer at my day job. For every object in my org, I need to create triggers, handlers, test classes for each, tons of service classes, interfaces, metadata, a whole bunch of files that are identical (or at least start out that way) except a handful of swapped out strings.

I wanted to take those small handful of unique files and create hundreds of clones with just those few parts swapped out with variables for things like object names and labels.

It's doable with a simple bash script, but I figured this would be a good opportunity to poke around Godot and also make a utility to share with my peers.

So, here's Scarlet Spider

Come and join the countdown!

We're counting down to day 0 in this thread: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/55/parsley/100-days-to-go

Come join us! We share a song or movietrailer for each day (only one a day allowed)

Theme Suggestions up Already!

Glad I came on and checked. Had not realized theme suggestions were already in progress this soon. Now I just gotta think of some good themes...

it's luuuduuuuuum time again! they got you coding through the night!

chrome_tN0EIXQme6.png

Not my best theme suggestions but not my worst! Last LD was a real wake-up call for me about my depression and lack of motivation, and I've been working on it all this year so hopefully I'll be able to bring my B+ game if not my A game this time around! Honestly I'd even settle for my C+ game this time lol.

For those who are curious or also looking for themes to suggest, here's the list of my rejected ideas, minus a couple I'm saving for later:

  • That was a half-baked idea!
  • A half-baked scheme
  • You only pie once
  • A baker's dozen
  • Once in a life thyme
  • A thousand smiles
  • Clown rights activist
  • Hip-hop to it
  • The app doesn't fall far from the three
  • Once written, twice shy
  • Quick, or they'll see you!
  • Is That Your Final Answer?
  • Are you sure about that?
  • Are you happy now?
  • Are you crazy? That'll never work!
  • A bird in the hand
  • Actions speak louder
  • Don't count your chickens
  • Chip off the old block
  • He Who Laughs Last
