Ludum Dare 53

After 6 years, I'm back!

The last time I participated in Ludum Dare was 2017. It's been a while. This is a cool theme and I'm excited to give it a shot. I've got an idea called "Amazon Orbit" (name will be changed) where you must manage a fleet of delivery space ships. We'll see how it goes! I recently made my own webgl game engine from scratch, so this will be a good exercise of those design decisions heh.

Some progress!

I spent some time improving my homebrew webgl game engine. I've finally added texture loading from .mtl files AND this is the first 3d model I've ever made. Pretty happy with how it turned out!

Next I'll generate some kind of landscape and then the ability to fly around and deliver packages!

Joining again! This time, with a custom game engine.

If the theme is particularly inspirational, I plan to join again. Over the past year I've been working on my own silly webGL game engine (from scratch). Likely I'll take this opportunity to continue iterating on that project and maybe even finish a game this time around!

Get hyped!

Modeling random stuff in blender for practice, although I'm not sure I'll actually make a 3d game. We'll see, based on the theme. Planning to join the compo so I better get re-familiarized with making programmer art. I haven't felt this excited about anything for years  It'll be a lot of fun! And most of the themes are pretty good! Have fun y'all. Get hyped!

The Nameless Temple

My idea is to explore the dark recess of a nameless temple. Who knows what you'll find amidst the ancient tomb of the forgotten. I've managed to throw together a texture, fix a bunch of bugs in my game engine (should have done that earlier...), mouse movement, map layout engine. Now I just gotta draw the rest of the owl :owl:

Probably a good stopping point for the evening.

Making progress, making progress

Making progress, making progress! Designed a few 3d models, fixed some texture bugs, made some art, implemented a "clue" system, finished the map-definition system. Next I guess I'll add a few puzzles. I'm going for a Myst-like horror adventure game where the walls close in the further through the catacombs you explore.

Might not have time for the actual "walls closing in part" which is the entire theme bit lol. But we'll see!
