Ludum Dare 57

What's your hidden gem game of the jam?

I mean games that are REALLY good but didn't get the attention you think they deserve.

For me it's definitely https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/57/puppeteer by @benskca. I loved every second of it, the idea and execution are great and my only complaint is that I want more levels.

Let’s play and review them! What's yours?

(Hehe, hidden gem… depth theme… lol sorry)

I'm excited!

Is it cheating joining the compo with my partner?

He's not really good at anything related to game dev but I want him also to join the experience and learn from it.

Does my elf looks more like an elf or more like a goblin

It's just a mockup to play with, but does it looks like an elf? elf_scaled.png

We're 8 hours in, show me your mockups

Here's mine: Screenshot 2026-04-18 120448.png

Not the prettiest but it'll get better (I Hope) :P

Replacing my Yoda elfs with Goblins

For the love of god I cant draw Elfs that looks like Elfs, so I doubled-down on drawing Goblins instead

Any suggestions on how to improve it will be gladly accepted <3

Think I'm out

Game wasn't coming along as I wanted it. Actually scope-wise I managed to make most of the mechanics work but they all feel clunky and unsatisfactory. I don't think I'll be able to fine-tune + create levels for a puzzle game + make everything prettier + SFX and music in time for the Compo, and I can't allow myself the extra day due to Uni.

So sadly I'm going to make the responsible decision and opt out of the competition right now and rest before returning to my Uni duties. goblinemv2/emsad.png

Still definitely gonna spend way too much time playing your games, much love <3
