We’re in!

Hi there Ludum Darers!

I’m Foug, from Lightmare Studio, France (we developed “Beware Planet Earth!”, should you know it by chance :)). So… this is our post to say we’re in for the jam!

There are four of us:

  • Gwenael ‘Gwen’ Massé is our artist and will also be our sound designer and musician on the jam
  • Christophe ‘Quittouff ‘ Rautou is our coder and will be our coder on the jam too!
  • Fabrice ‘Fab’ Chaland is our CEO and producer and will be doing level and game design
  • … and me, Frederic ‘Foug’ Oughdentz, game designer, who will also be doing some coding in the jam.

Of course everybody will be testing and doing game design and or else… what’s the point? :)

We are going to use:

  • Game Maker: Studio (Standard and Pro version)
  • Photoshop CS3
  • Maybe some Flash CS3 if we go for interpolation-based animations (which will greatly depend on the theme and what art style we go for)
  • sfxr for the SFX, but we may also use a Zoom H2 mic + Audacity for capturing real life SFX… or voices!
  • FL Studio for the music.

That wraps it up!  Good luck everybody (compo or jam), and have fun!

Oh I forgot to tell you: since we are in France, it is currently 9:30PM here! We’re ready, but since the jam begins at 3:00AM tomrrow, we’ll start with a good night sleep first 😉

Fighting the hunger

It’s 12:23 PM here in Bordeaux, and we have only begun coding a couple of hours ago.

The game is about Mr. Rabbit who needs to shop his groceries but he’s pretty late and the shop closes in 10 seconds. You have to set waypoints for him to follow, pushing his little shopping cart around. He must not go too fast (the cart would topple over in steep turns), but fast enough for him to get his groceries.

We don’t quite know where this is headed and for the time being we have a hard time getting things ready.

Stay tuned for more!

Everybody’s tired!

Ok, the game looks good… well maybe it won’t be a masterpiece, but it’s pretty fun and respects the theme.

We’ll probably have something to show tomorrow!

Good night Darers!

Grrr…

P4Merge is seriously acting up today, maybe it’s just because we’re tired but we are forced to do a lot of rollbacking and thinking about what to rollback.

Well, anyways, the game is looking pretty good, and we could well show something soon.

Good luck to compo darers who are not so far from the deadline. Keep it up!

Seeing the light!

Ok we’re getting really close to master now! :p

And here is a “screenshot”:

More tomrrow !

Yep, a cutesy game can get messy!

“10 seconds left, Mr. Pink Rabbit!” can get awfully messy depending on how much risk you are willing to take. I’ll leave a screenshot here as proof, just to make you wait before I finish writing our postmortem (which I probably won’t post until tomorrow because it’s already past midnight here in France).
