Ludum Dare 57

Thanks everyone for the Ludum Dare 57 and outro :)

Greetings everyone and have a good day / night! First of all, I wanted to say thank you for a such great event and everyone's submissions this Ludum Dare. It was my first such event and I had a pretty much joy attending with my first ever game! It was also a pretty much fun playing other people games and rate them. But about that a bit later. Through last 6 years after graduating from the school I was looking what to do. Tried many different niches, travelled across the globe and visited quarter of all countries and found something that inspires me pretty much - gamedev! So here am I :) Thanks to every member of that interesting wide-edge community. You together created something supernatural this month.

Now a bit about the Ludum Dare and something I would advice to consider to change. The rating system seems to be a pretty weird. Not talking about my game, because it is pretty bad (which I expected anyways to graduate half a star higher), but about other Devs games. I have seen so many cool ones with outstanding graphics, music and so in a row which could even be contenders on the Steam let's say. But they take only 80+ place! Not to offend someone, everyone did a great job, but it is a bit strange that some games have 4.5 rating with 20 reviews, and 3.5 rating with 100 reviews. Just mean that probably, with lower amount of reviews a game is more likely to get a high place :) My solution here - to boost graduating amount of reviews to at least 40. So the impact of reviews would be much smaller and developers would have additional point to rate others games and find potential gems.

Another problem I see here is the Rating games as well. Me, as an example, not playing any AAA games. I play only indies and games which are pretty similar to ones presented on this event. But at the same time.. I may not like the graphics. The music. Something else. And rate 1 star let's say. But 10 other people could like it. But next 100 people would not like it either. Yea, I know it is digging too deep (wasn't it Depths theme this time?), but.. There may be some kind of a reminder how people should rate games. With the smallest possible depend on their own beliefs. In that I count checking Dev history / additional information to rate.. Or just trying to "boost" the mood of the Developer. My solution here is to make a rate history open for every member, including the average grade. Additionally, based on complex calculations, make a median rate of user's grades to change the grade of specific game they rated in higher/lower side!

Additionally, wanted to tell some words about that yesterdays incident. That kind of behavior is unacceptable and I am really sorry for Mike it happened in that kind of event. I do not know details, but seems someone tried to manipulate the reviews in some kind. That is blatant and just a spare of time for someone's standing behind that attack. People should value other's effort and better would be if these "attackers" spend their time creating a better game :) Additionally, you made a worse evening not just for a Mike, but for a most part of Ludum Dare community :P

What about other suggestions, I am pretty sure it would be much appreciated if demos and early projects which started on Ludum Dare and would be published on Steam / Nintendo Store / Epic etc.. Would receive additional coverage here on Ludum.. And probably would be appreciated if every game would receive a views counter on their page :)

Special thanks to Ludum Dare, @pov and staff for hosting an opportunity to become better. Thanks to every Developer presented on the Jam. GG, Well Developed! :)
