Ludum Dare 46

All bugs, tentatively fixed!

Plus you can now aim with cursor keys instead of the mouse, which feels a bit more natural for an 8 way shooter. So, what are you waiting for? There's a shedload of gnomes out to kill your ducklings, and it's down to just you and your weaponry to keep them alive.

Mother duck said, 'PAP PAP PAP PAP!'

There's never been a better time...

With a few more bug fixes - we've finally got z-index sorting working so the bodies of dead gnomes littering your play area no longer obscure your view of our murderous proquackonist (too much?) - there's literally never been a better time to try out our realistic gnome genocide simulator!

Yet more tweaks!!!

I just can't leave it alone... turns out that gamepad support via the browser APIs is dodgy as all hell... but I think we've finally ironed out all the remaining little issues. Feel free to tell me I'm wrong!

So, now, there really has never been a better time to get yourself knee-deep in the corpses of dead gnomes.

Post Mortem is up...

If you're interested in learning how we progressed through the making of For Ducks' Sake, there's now a 2500 word post mortem up on my personal blog at: https://garystanton.co.uk/ludum-dare-46-in-the-bag/

I'd originally planned to post it here, but it kinda got a bit out of hand!

Remember, there's still one day left to check out the game and give us a rating. We're pushing 300 at the moment which is just... crazy! Thanks to everyone who's played and rated so far. We really appreciate the feedback and general good vibes.

For those that missed it...

The feed is moving quickly at this late stage so it's easy to miss - but if you're interested in learning how we progressed through the making of For Ducks' Sake, there's now a 2500 word post mortem up on my personal blog at: https://garystanton.co.uk/ludum-dare-46-in-the-bag/

Remember, there's still a few hours left to check out the game and give us a rating. We're broke 300 yesterday and couldn't be more happy about it! Thanks to everyone who's played and rated so far. We really appreciate the feedback and general good vibes.

Ludum Dare 47

And, we're in...

I am so insanely excited for LD47. Lawrence and I have been looking forward to it from the minute we finished LD46. We're gonna make something awesome. Good luck, all!

Since everyone seems to post this information...

This weekend's game jam will be powered by:
- Phaser 3 - Aseprite - Texture Packer - Tiled - BMFont - OpenMPT (if I can remember how to use it) - Bfxr - Caffeine, cookies and sleep deprivation

A missed opportunity...

Can't believe that I didn't think to name my player spawning function: frogSpawn()
You live and learn. 2020-10-04 2100.gif

Ride 'em.... umm... cowfrog?

End of day 2 and we have a basic level system and exit condition... Hopefully a few more elements to interact with tomorrow, then... I guess... level design, sound, menus, HUD... then, sleep??

Submission hour...

Help me out guys... Will I still be able to click the 'publish' button during submission hour, or do I need to publish before the deadline and put a note up saying publishing is in progress until it's ready?

Loop Frogs is here!

I was pretty sure we wouldn't get a playable build ready right up until about 2 minutes before the deadline...

Hope you enjoy playing it... it almost killed us to make it!

Ahh, the first day of rating...

It's always great on the first day of rating... you spend the weekend with no sleep, crunching all through the last day to get your entry out by the deadline, then crash, exhausted into a long recovery sleep... and all you have to do the next day, is play other people's games.
I've seen some great entries today and left a comment on pretty much everything I played.

Hope you're all having fun, and, of course that you've played our entry:

Moving up the rankings...

Much as we adore the process of making a game, the best thing about the jam is having people play it and provide feedback. Thanks so much to everyone who's played and commented so far - we really appreciate it.
We're now 33rd in the 'most ranked' category... can you help us get onto the first page?

Loop Frogs is a fun little puzzle platformer that can be played in the browser and completed in just a few minutes...
Give it a go!
