LD24

I’m in, My first LD, second jam ever :D

Hello!

I am excited to be part of an LD48 for the first time. I have seen tons of cool games come out of LD, and I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to be involved in any way with the LD community 😀

If interested I am on twitter, and always follow back other game devs and have done a couple of flash games. Looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!

“Ivan the Infection” Post-Mortem

My first LD48, and it was fun. Here is a shot of the title screen:

Wow that is a lot taller than I thought it would be…. So anyways, here is a quick recap.

  1. Come up with insanely overcomplicated idea as usual
  2. Get half way through saturday coding like an insane person
  3. Try and explain the game to someone after having zero human interaction for over 16 hours
  4. Look at the lack of understanding and interest coupled with dismay on their face
  5. Go back to the drawing board, come out with something 100x simpler

What went right:

The tools/libraries I chose are solid gold, and I stand by the tools and give praise to their makers:

What went wrong

Started with overly complex idea involving balancing the hosts health via natural selection and random mutations.

I always do this.

I can’t think of simple mechanics.

I always come up with something that looks like Wiley Coyote planned out on a cave wall.

Also I ate too much candy.

Luckily I found a way to simplify the game play and actually I think the game came out overall very fun :)

Here is a screen of the actual gameplay:

And finally click here if you wanna give it a spin.

Thanks for reading, and for letting me part of something so awesome as LD. It was a lot of fun, and I can’t wait to start playing all the games!
