Nyan’s Desk

I just got back from ice skating, and I noticed people were posting their programming setups. Well here’s mine with my trusty beast.

Tag ‘deskphoto’ please. :)

Behold My Labor of Love…

I’ve been working on this quad for the better part of the last 11 hours or so. It’s a pretty awesome quad though.

Newest Screenshot.

Here’s a screenshot so everyone can see what I’m working on. Yay quads!

Another Screenshot.

Things are going pretty well. No major crap-ups, etc… After using XNA though, I have to say, I’m not all that impressed. It’s just managed DirectX with support for loading objects (which makes it very useful, mind you). I think I’ll stick with OpenGL. -_-

Wow, I’m pooped. XNA was like really weird. Please, enjoy! You might need a decent system to run this. It uses version 2.0 vertex and pixel shaders. Meow =^.^=

EDIT: You need the latest DirectX and XNA redistributable installed, even on Vista, or else it will crash!  You can get DirectX here and XNA here.

A Quickie Update.

Some people are having trouble running the XNA games some of us built. If an XNA program crashes, it’s probably because you need to install the latest XNA and DirectX redistributable. These are not installed automatically. My game even crashed on an up-to-date install of Vista until I manually installed the latest DirectX.

I have updated my binary to include the DirectX and XNA redistributables.

BTW: To restart a level (if you mess up), stop the ball with the spacebar key, then click on the screen.

NyanNyanKoneko Reporting for Duty!

I’m back!

Anyway, I’m in a bit of a bind. I don’t have any place to  host my images or files. I signed up for free hosting but it needs to be “approved” first. I have no idea how long that’s going to take.

I know I can use a site like tinypic to upload screenshots, but I don’t know of any file-hosting service I like. Well, if it’s Sunday and I still don’t have a web site, I’ll just have to figure something out.

Anyway, I look forward to this competition. I’m going to use Game Maker instead of C# and XNA as I did last time. I think I’ll keep it simple, I don’t want to engage in any any all-night programming fests. You see, I don’t even have a desk, so I have to hunch over my laptop which hurts my back. I’ll still make something fun though.

I’m glad to be back in the game-programming spirit. Everyone, do your best, and I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!

I’ve found that laying on a couch with the laptop on the stomach works pretty well.

No couch either. I’m stuck in something similar to a jail cell, although I’m not in jail or anything. 😉

Ask and ye shall receive — I’ll host your stuff, provided it’s not *ludicrously* huge.

Images can be uploaded directly to the blog. There’s a little icon above the post box and tools for it.

Sure, I’ll participate

I guess I’ll participate in the next Ludum Dare. I’ll use the opportunity to work on a personal library of mine that’s currently in an early stage.

Not sure what tools I’ll use except Java and lwjgl. Probably GIMP and audacity along with some program to write music too.

Anyway, just wanted to declare my use of a personal library. That’s all.
