LD27

I’m in!

So this is going to be my first Ludum Dare and I’m super excited. I’ve taken part in a few other game jams before but they were much smaller, this is much more exciting!

Anyway, here’s what I’m going to be using to create my game:

  • IDE: Eclipse
  • Language: Java
  • Framework: LibGDX
  • Base code: https://github.com/JakeHorsfield/libLD
  • Graphics: GIMP (maybe Pinta too)
  • Sound: SFXR for sound effects, I don’t know what I’ll use for music
  • Environment: Linux Mint 15

Good luck to everyone else who’s taking part!

My fallback for LD music is royalty free CC stuff from Incompetech.com. There’s a lot there.

Warmup Weekend!

So the warm-up weekend has started! This weekend I’m creating a little tile based game to try a few things I usually have trouble with, and also try a few things I’ve never done before.

Here’s what I’m going to be practicing:

  • Collision Detection
  • Keeping code clean and organized!

Here’s what I’m going to try which I’ve never done before:

  • Pathfinding
  • NPC’s – both passive and agressive.

And here’s the tools I’m using (these are the same as what I will be using for the compo):

  • Language: Java
  • Framework: LibGDX
  • IDE: Eclipse
  • Graphics: GIMP
  • Sound: SFXR
  • Music: Autotracker-c
  • Food: Whatever I feel like
  • Drink: Water and energy drinks.

Base Code I’ll be using

Here’s the base code I’ll probably be using for the compo.

Feel free to do whatever you want with it 😀
