Wait for me

Hey.. I will try to participate as well (I m not sure my gf will allow me to work but I will try :) ).

I will be using:

-Eclipse with  java for android
-Blender and photoshop
-Enceladus3d game library  (which is mine and closed at the moment… I just can’t share it.  But since I will be doing it for fun I don’t really mind if I end up on the jam session only)

Formal Protest

I want to post a formal protest against the rule (above) that says that my personal library must be shared. It happens that my library is commercial and I can’t share it.

Also, there is no advantage being gained as a popular commercial game engine such as Unity3d is much more complex and complete. Also there is a curve on learning my library which would make it unpractical anyway.

Making it short, please consider dropping this requirement for this or future LD compos  :) (I will be having to participate in the Jam only for this reason)

Is your commercial library available for sale? If so, then you can use it, no worries.

I would respectfully disagree with you on this point. One of the most appealing things to me about LD is the rule that source and dependencies must be made available.

I think the reasoning is something like this: There may not be an advantage in your case, but that doesn’t mean everyone is in the same situation. Some people may have very complete engines they would prefer not to share and that would put them at an advantage. Also consider that unity (free) has some missing features which are relatively common in other frameworks.

Do note, “open sourcing” or “public domaining” isn’t required. Just because you release code publicly doesn’t mean you forfeit any rights to it. You’re also not required to provide any instructions for actually building it.

I’m not sure if I will be able to do what I want… but anyway… that’s what I got so far

Finished working on the main character and did a blender rendering of what it should like

Well… except for the shadows which are kind of expensive for mobile devices.. and also the cellshading… and probably the diffuse shading will be a little bit different… and probably everything else as well… :p
