Ludum Dare 59

Try Our Character Generator

Hi there!

We’ve been testing our character generator a lot lately, and honestly we’re really happy with how weird and varied it turned out.

There are thousands of unique faces already, built from lots of different eyes, brows, noses, ears, beards, clothes, glasses and other little details. 005.png

And all of it sits in this strange dystopian setting we’ve been building, with characters that feel a bit suspicious, a bit funny, and hopefully fun to draw.

Some faces can seem almost the same at first glance, which makes the details even more important. A mustache, eyes, ears, a hat… every little thing can matter when someone has to identify a suspect from your sketch. 004.png

That’s a big part of the game.

We wanted not only a lot of faces, but faces that are interesting to draw, even if you don’t usually draw at all.

And soon many more of them will end up in the cameras. 003.png

We’d love for you to try the game and share your portraits and thoughts with us. It means a lot, especially because we want to keep expanding the game and bring more of what we imagined into it.

Would love to see what suspects you catch 001.png

More updates about the game soon.

bug??

Hey, we’re honestly a bit confused right now.

Earlier today our game still showed around 50+ ratings, but a few hours later — after the final results appeared — everything seems to be gone. No score breakdowns, no placement, nothing. The page just suddenly looks very different from everyone else’s.

We spent an absurd amount of energy on this jam, so seeing that happen feels really discouraging and confusing. 2026-05-09 16.11.04.jpg What’s even stranger is that “Ratings Received” now says 142, even though not that long ago it was somewhere around 50–60.

Did this happen to anyone else? Maybe it’s some temporary Ludum Dare bug or recalculation?

A Strange Ending to a Great Jam

We wanted to share a small update about the weird situation with our Ludum Dare 59 game Almost the Same

At this point we’ve mostly come to terms with the fact that, because of a strange bug, our ratings/results probably won’t be counted properly.

Of course it’s sad. The whole team put an absurd amount of energy into this project over those few days, and seeing the game suddenly end up outside the Jam category right before results was honestly pretty heartbreaking.

But at the same time — jams are really about participation, making something weird and exciting together, and sharing it with other people. And in that sense, we still feel very much like participants of this Ludum Dare ❤️ 02.jpg

We’re genuinely happy with the feedback we received, especially all the comments and discussions around the game. We still hope we might somehow be able to see the actual category scores players gave us, because that kind of feedback is just as valuable to us as written comments.

On our side, we did everything we could: wrote emails, contacted people, tried to explain the situation — but so far we haven’t received a response yet, and honestly we don’t know if anything can still be changed.

Either way, this was an amazing jam.

And you’re all amazing. Seriously. Seeing so many creative, strange, funny and inspiring games in just a few days is always something special.

Thank you ❤️ 03.jpg
