How to make gray box feel like a gigantic armored train?

The main task was to create a spacious but closed space, divided into two floors. Player should be well-versed in the level and be able to quickly run from one end of the train to another. This should work regardless of which route the player takes โ running on the first floor or the second. So that the player does not lose pace while moving between tasks. But to keep the space closed, I decided to introduce vertical ladders that character starts to climb automatically without interaction by pressing a button.
