Le Laitier

Get ready to drink milk, slide through bad guys, and drink even more milk, while working for the IBP Milk Delivery Service, in this post-apocalyptic, robot run world. Will you make it to the end without a drop spilled, or will you leave a glaring white trace for your fellow milkmen to follow?

DISCLAIMER: I made this game in 48 hours, with the Compo in mind. As I was making this page, however, it occurred to me I used an already-existing song, which I just jumbled up a bit. As such, I am listing the game in the Jam section.

DISCLAIMER 2: I am aware I wrote 'spéciale' as 'specialé', I will fix this as soon as I can.

I had a really fun time playing as the IBP's Milkman, trying to fend off any unwanted Fur- I mean Mumbo- I mean enemies. On my first playthorough I finished the game in 00:69:420.

Sliding feels so great, Perhaps changing the slide to be able to dodge bullets would be a good idea. Of course, this depends on you.

Super fun à jouer, la mécanique du slide est top! Mais j'ai mis un peu de temps à comprendre que je pouvais détruire les robots avec x) Très bon boulot !

A platformer that oozes atmosphere and mood. Some of the mechanics could use some polish, and otherwise are in need of far more explanation than they're given - but that's not why we're here. We're here for the good music, the cool art, and the very satisfying sound effect whenever you make it to the end.

Une pure masterclass c'est magnifique,les graphismes qui ajoute un coté "Celeste",l'humour et l'ambience,mon gars c'st une dinguerie meme si je t'avoue que j'ai pas eu le temps de finir le jeu,c'est un pépite,ca fait plaisirs de voir des Francais au Ludum Dare ;) tu devrais voir mon jeu aussi

I really tried, but the beginning of level without a possibility to die and with all the milk stupidly spent was the last drop. And this is after those relentless robots!
Cool atmosphere and real cool animations, I wish the character movements were animated too.

J'aime bien les graphismes (même si manque un peu d'animations sur le perso principale).
J'avais pas la ref de la vidéo mais ça rajoute un bon ton d'absurde et le jeu en soit bien ficelé même si difficile par endroit.

Mentions spéciale aux effet graphiques qui rendent le jeu vraiment beau avec peu d'élément à l'écran.

Sliding is so cool, and the game handling is very good. Too hard tho :(

Sliding and watching the robots being destroyed is so satisfying. I found the mechanics interesting, but I think with a bit more polish it would be even more satisfying. A great game for those who like a high level of difficulty.

@arficord Yeah, by the time I remembered about player animations I was already waaaay behind schedule. After voting ends I might work a bit more on the game, and propper animations, or at least squash and stretch.

@k8n Yeah, my level design skills are non existent. I also agree that having a milk meter wasn’t a smart choice in the end, but I had initially planned for the game to have many other abilities which ended up not having propper levels so I cut them out.

As I said in other comments, animations were on my todo, but I ran out of time before. Since this was my first ever jam I’ll keep this in mind for the next one!

Well executed game. Too hard for me. The movement jump/sliding movement is great, sometime you have the sensation of flying. The walk animation is missing, even if some other aspect are polished (light for example). Overall, great job.

@wuya-cafe Yeah, my level design skills are nonexistent, so I was expecting a 'mixed' reaction to the difficulty. At least I know better for next time.

@le-goss-du-net Désolé, mais je ne suis pas français, juste un étudiant de Roumanie qui aime la langue française et le lait et qui a quelques amis qui habitent en France. :)

Merci pour les mots gentils et ton retour! Celeste a été et est une énorme source d'inspiration pour mes jeux actuels.

Je jouerai à ton jeu quand je rentrerai à la maison!

+ I like the sliding
+ It took me a while to throw the milk under myself and not into the lava (minecraft and terraria thought me that lava + another liquid = solid block)
+ You can kill the robots with the explosion, and on the level where it requires several robot kills exploding them is worth more kills then kicking them in the face
+ I found the robot shooting a little annoying, couldn't slide under most of the shots, and it was hard to jump over it with the bullets moving so slow and them shooting quite often. I feel it could be a little easier if the bullets flew a little faster.

A hard platformer! I didn't know I could perform double jump if I didn't accidentally do it.
