HAIL - Humans Are Ill Lived by RiverAndRun

[raw]
made by RiverAndRun for LD33 (JAM)
--== NOTICE ==--
The theme may not be as literal as you would expect and takes some
thinking to understand. If we had more time we would have implemented
some form of emotion to express the theme much better.

Fantastic mood. Also loved the way you showed damage. Could have been nice to have an arrow showing where the boss is on all sides of the screen rather than just the bottom.

Very difficult, but a rewarding game.
It would be nice if I didn't have to start over if I died. I also would like to have better feedback on if I got hit/hit them beyond the same sound playing for either. Also, it would be nice to know how they damage me, (as in, is it their mouth, something they make, etc.), as it was very unclear.
Amazing graphics. Seriously, this is about as good as they come for LD.
Well done indeed!

Great game! It's very fun to play and it offers the right amount of challenge. We didn't get the interpretation of the theme.

This is awesome! All aspects of the game complement each other. Solid style in terms of atmosphere, graphics and mood. I feel the gameplay could be fleshed out a bit, but other than that awesome work!

This felt really nice to play, the controls were very smooth and I loved the animation of the samurai. It was also fun fighting the bosses so I was solidly entertained. I wasn't so sure how it related to the theme though, the ending felt perhaps a bit rushed. It was a cool package regardless.

The mood created by the background ambient sound, the shadow-based life feedback, and the lighting effect was really good. The controls were nice and responsive as well. It was difficult, but felt fair.

I wished there was more of an indication of when the enemy died, like they fall over or flash and fade out or something. Also having to start over from the very beginning after dying was a bit of a drag.

That was fun! I really liked the feel of swinging the sword. The jumping and movement felt a little too fast and loose for me.

Really nice job. I love the color system used for the health. I would totally play a fully fleshed out version of this. Amazing job

Very cool came! Looks great, music sets the mood, but I found the third boss too difficult :(
