"When you light a candle, you also cast a shadow"

Welcome to the story of neverending battle between Light and Darkness!

Brightman wants to bring life back to his hometown, which was devastated by Darkers - evil monsters who came from darkness. Before the escape, Brightman managed to save the sprout of Solar, a flower capable of draining light.

In the dungeon where Brightman is hiding, it’s hard to find the light to feed Solar. Therefore, the hero uses the energy of stock crystals.

When the Flower collects enough light in itself, it will be able to break through to the surface and disperse the darkness over the city of Brightman.

But the shadows continue to haunt Brightman. It is in their power to destroy the last magic flower and plunge the world into darkness forever ...

This Ludum Dare our team decided to make a Top Down Adventure Game.

  • Charge the energyy of your light with crystals.
  • Feed Solar (the flower) with light and keep it alive.
  • But beware of monsters in the dark.

Ooo, nice ethereal atmosphere in this. The music added a lot to the mood for me.

I really like the lighting shadow effect when you shine your light beam on items.

Gameplay wise I was really unsure of what to do. I explored around for a while but I wasn't able to pick up or move anything? I noticed the crystals bar above "Seeds" going down but I couldn't figure out how to change that.

Cool jam!

I really liked using the flashlight to scare away the floating creatures (Darkers?); the shadow cast by the flower is particularly cool. The main character looks great. The visuals and audio really evoke a moody feel to the game. I found it ran a bit slower than I would expect in my browser

Hi there! I love the original art and that you shared some design thoughts! :) I'm not 100% sure i get the mechanics though. My flower grew, I planted 3 little ones, but what happens next? Is there a fail mechanic?

I like the art, sound and ambiance in general, but I couldn't figure out the goal of the game. I didn't manage to gather the crystals and I couldn't find any other actions than moving around. But anyway good job on the art part!

As others have said, the art and game's atmosphere are pretty solid. I did notice that Brightman can face bottom-right, bottom-left, top-left but not top-right.

However, I had no idea what I was meant to do. You have some instructions on this game page (Charge the energy of your light with crystals; Feed Solar (the flower) with light and keep it alive; Beware of monsters in the dark), but you do not explain the controls.

Nothing actually happened to me when the monsters touched me. I stood in a corner with the light pointing away from the monsters, but it seemed to have no negative effect.

I'd like to properly play the game, but unfortunately I do not know how to.

Great atmosphere! Mechanics need some explaining either here or in-game. I figured out how to plant seeds, but couldn't get the flowers to grow. The dev materials imply the plant spreads? A download version would be nice to improve performance. Would love to play more!

I liked the character designs and the atmosphere the music created, but in terms of the gameplay, I didn't get what I was supposed to do. The enemies didn't damage the flower nor me, so I got really confused to their purpose. Maybe if you introduced the objective as the player enters the game, it would make things more clear. But overall, loved the work you put into this :)
