Vine Climb by ShadowFoxNixill
This is my first Ludum Dare, and the theme was announced while I was out on a bike ride. I decided to go for a game where you climb a wall as a (growing) vine, and you have to dodge left and right (two buttons).
It's basically a high score game.
Here's a run-down of the powerups:
(Red) Pesticide: kills half the bugs on the screen and reduces the spawn rate
(Brown) Plant pot: A single save point per game, allows you to restart from a death with a reduced score instead of restarting from zero. Note that your previous score is uncounted if you do that; even if you get a high score.
(Yellow) Seed: Splits your vine into two. Each scores one point per crossing, and only one needs to stay alive to keep playing.
(Cyan) Shield: Speeds you up (by 30% of original) and makes you invulnerable to a single hit. The speed stacks, the invulnerability does not.
(Blue) Speed up: Speeds you up (by 50% of original).
(Magenta) Slow down: Slows you down (by or to 50% of original, whichever results in a higher speed).
Your speed gradually resets to the original as you keep playing.

I really, really like this game! It's simple, easy to pick-up and play, fun, and surprisingly varied with the different power-ups! This is a very polished production, well done. You should be very proud of yourself. Although some music would be nice, the sound effects were still a good touch.

Nice! A lot more fun than I expected, thought out rather well, just difficult enough to be interesting, and the sound effects were a very nice touch! (although when I started the game my headset was a bit loud and the starting noise scared me, hahah) I only wish some of the power ups weren't completely boxed in by the bugs ):

Cool! Elegant, simple idea. The power-ups add a nice degree of variety, though I haven't made it far enough to use most of 'em... :)

This was a fun game. I like having to anticipate in advance which way to go to prepare for another path, although I kept getting to points where a decision made had zero outs and I just had to wait for my vine's demise. :-) Nice though. I like the zap sound when you hit the red thing.
