Keep the Game running by Lewaro

made by Lewaro for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

Keeping Animals or Plants alive is easy. Keeping up a schedule and satisfying players is hard. Finishing a campaign is an illusion. Keep the Game running.png In this little game, you struggle to keep all players satisfied, turns out every player wants something different and you have to find out what.

To make Matters worse, the Ranger decided to give you the task of scheduling the entire parties calendar in order to free dates for session. Keep the Game running 2.png

Find out how many sessions you can handle.

enjoyed the pixel art style and the session scheduling is a unique mechanic, fun game with a interesting take on the theme. not sure if its intentional but i did have an impossible schedule where two events for a character could only be done on Monday and i was forced to scrap one, as opposed to not being able to make it fit with other events

Ambitious concept! I really like ideas that play with calendar aspects. Your game reminded me of https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/taskmaster-2000 which also has that kind of mechanic. The game was a bit hard to figure out what the flow was, but it was playable regardless so I just kept moving forward.

Truley cool game - the graphics (however nice they where) could do with a bit of shading. It would make them *pop* a bit more

The scheduling was a nightmare, in a good sense. A really nice mechanic that makes the game.

Enjoyed the scheduling part greatly, but not really cared for the actual DM part because it was kind of opaque to me what the players might enjoy and if there was even any system behind it.

Graphics are great and it's certainly a really innovative game idea.

I greatly appreciate all your feedback and it's good to see that my passable pixelart is well received. To that matter @arcus do you mean shaders? cause i don't know how to apply those in 2D. if iths about shading the pixelart, i couldnt figure out how for the most part, 8x16 is a small canvas

@peachtreeoath omg you're right. thou i miss my snapping mechanic, i would have loved to get into as much detail as taskmaster. I hope my game wasn't to hard to figure out. I hoped after one session one get's the gist and after 4 what the players want.

@niklasriewald you might be right about that, especially the ranger and rogue should be hard to figure out. And the fact that in aftermath the way you handle rewards and killing both affect the players makes it to hard, maybe.

I am upset at how much I enjoyed the scheduling mechanic.
