PinCraft by zenmumbler

[raw]
made by zenmumbler for LD 41 (JAM)

Pinball meets crafting, but then without the crafting because I ran out of time, so just play a bit of pinball instead. Needs at least 800 height screen. Tested and works fine on macOS in Safari, Firefox and Chrome.

Left and right arrows to hit the flippers, Space to launch, R to reset if the ball gets stuck (should not happen too often)

What the plan was

Instead of scoring, you hit the bumpers to get materials, then using controls on the right, you would have to quickly click around to craft things such as: - Bonuses such as extra life, multi-ball, drain-shield, lower gravity, etc. - New elements on the board, instead of getting it all at once, you'd have to earn bumpers (and thus materials), extra flippers, etc. - While you're clicking around to do the crafting bits, the game would continue, adding some frenzy

Tech

  • My own Stardazed engine, not much to see rendering wise this time, mostly an exercise for the Bullet / Ammo physics engine integration.
  • WebGL / TypeScript / Ammo.js

Enjoyed the Pinball :)
have to ask, how was the crafting going to work? what would you get?

Thanks for the game ;)

@mattpattie2 Thanks for playing! I updated the description with what I planned to do.

Good look, fun play, and clear and understandable physics, which is tricky with a roll-your-own pinball game. I think the crafting idea would have been really cool. I played seven balls, and three of them got lost on launch - one auto-died, the others just vanished and I had to suicide them. So, something weird going on there. Nice job, and a fun game.

Neat!
I played 'till 15.150, 8 deaths.
My ball got stuck inside the red bumper on the right at some point, the bumper stayed pink and the ball didn't get out, but the 'R' control fixed it, nicely done.
It takes me back to Pokémon Pinball back in the day but maybe that just goes to show how little pinball games I've played in my life ^^#
I feel it's a shame there's no "nudge" button, that would have been a nice addition for more "control" on the ball and on the game, in general.
Shame you couldn't include the crafting gameplay but hey, you'll do better next time!
If all that's made with your own engine kudos to you, this is reallt impressive!
Take care of yourself, until next time :-D
