Corporate Espionage by spacewarp

[raw]
made by spacewarp for LD35 (COMPO)
Get in, steal secrets, and get out!
Use your powers of shapeshifting for some stealthy Corporate Espionage.

My first Ludum Dare entry!
Sadly, but not unexpectedly, ran out of time so while much of the core code works there is no win or lose conditions.

Press [Space] to enter action mode close to other people. Use [Tab] to choose between nearby individuals and [Enter] to knock him/her out and take his/her appearance.

Press [Esc] to pause.

Check the source for some neat code I made to import and work with Pyxel tilesets and tilemaps.

Made using Unity 5 and Pyxel.

Hmmm, I had too many witnesses to my little bit of identity theft ;) I think you've got something to work with here :)

The concept of this game is intriguing for me. The stop-motion by pressing SPACE works but breaks immersion for me.

Haha, I enjoyed nocking people out for a bit and seeing the exclamation points, but it wasn't really a game.

I think you have something good going on here, I like the feature when pressing space to stop and zoom into the "action". Congrats on your first LD entry :)

it is unclear what to do, but the graphics are very nice. I figured out how to kill people, but why should I do that is unclear.

It reminds me of hotline miami. You've got something there. You should work a bit more on the controls as the movement isn't exactly responsive. Overall well done!

I managed to knock out a couple of guys on the bathrooms without anyone noticing, and after knocking out a third one, a man appeared out of nowhere and suddenly everyone was with the exclamation points. Hehe, it was kinda fun. :) I like the espionage concept.

On the other hand, once you have acquired someone else's appearance, it's not very clear what should you try to do then. I tried going to the servers and maybe stealing some information, but nothing happened. :/

A great start - hope you get the chance to work further on it!

Well done!

Some nice technical work here. Of course, there is no real game, but the work is impressive anyway!

I love how you implemented the mechanics. There's definitely room for improvement, however the game has very good potential. The only part I did not understand was why I needed to assume other people's identities, when I can already get into everywhere.

Hi, nice game ! We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #35.
Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description

ENJOYED THE SIMPLICITY OF GRAPHICS. IDENTITY FRAUD HAS HAPPENED TO ME ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE DEPTHS OF MY LAB. HOPE TO SEE MORE OF YOU IN LUDUM DARE

This has potential.
If you were to add a real stealth mechanic, some objectives, and multiple options for the [SPACE] screen, this could be really good.
Also, I liked the path-finding for when you moved by clicking.

Hey,

This concept could've been really interesting, but it's not very clear how this game should be played. I can switch to other NPC's but that's about it. I really like all the NPC's walking around. The game gets a nice mood because of that.
