Terrible space shooter by rxi
Just wanted to check all my base code was working in a practical sense. After an hour of frantic typing I ended up with this monstrosity.
The game can't be muted and will play music as soon as it's opened. You've been warned. Arrows to move, space to shoot.

Most of my base code is centered around timers and tweening, so, this being a test of my base code, I tried to do a bit of a stress test of it all in an attempt to catch any bugs. I'd seen the video you linked (I hope everyone making games has seen it), and agree, a wonderful talk.
Pros:
-The simplistic visuals and minimalistic gameplay makes you focus on you doing.
-The glow effect around the rects are simply amazing.
-The particle effects from the rects is also stunning.
Cons:
-I didn't move at all for a whole a game, I literally just held down the spacebar and let enemies bunk into my particles. My score got well into the 8000's. I'm not a game design expert, but, I am pretty sure you aren't supposed to be able to do that. I didn't die, I just got bored.
-The flashing white is way too much. And it happens too often. (Add a counter or something or a timer or something, I am rarely bothered by flashing lights.)
Other than that, there is not much to complain about with this game, it is simple, and beautiful. After all, this is just a warm-up game, KEEP. IT. UP. :D I would love to see what you make in the future. <(^-^<)
