Shape Quest by Levi D. Smith
Help Mister Square save Shape Land by returning the super spinning power artifacts. Avoid touching all enemies.
Press space to start. Use arrow keys to move.
Enemies:
Magenta Trapezoid - Moves in a straight line and blocks your way.
Yellow Circle - Randomly changes direction.
Green Triangle - Lives in the water and shoots at you.
Orange Pentagon - Randomly changes position and shoots in four directions.
Only runs in 1280x720 resolution! I recommend playing the Windows build, as the animation seems to be much smoother than the HTML5 web build.
For official Ludum Dares, I've used Unity eight times and Stencyl once. I felt that it was time to learn something new. I started out using the Godot engine, but gave up on it after a few hours of having difficulties understanding how the collision system works. I had completed some GameMaker tutorials a few years ago, but this was my first full GameMaker game.
Tools used:
GameMaker - game engine
Inkscape - Vector art
Gimp - scaling graphics
BFXR - sound effects
GarageBand - music composition
Audacity - voice recording and sound modifications

Seriously though, the music in this was pretty nice and the sounds were competent enough, but I don't like this "look." Also, the song for a level shouldn't restart when you die; that just makes it annoying.
Anyway, the game was a lot more challenging than I figured it would be, in a good way. That level where four triangles shoot at you all at the same time was actually harder than the level after it, so maybe the order of those could've been switched, but it ended up being a pleasant surprise that I actually had to think about what I was doing and be careful about how to do it sometimes.
So Shape Quest doesn't really try for anything new, and didn't *quite* fit the theme. Just a plain ol' fun game.
Sweety game! good job!
it went quickly from easy walk to really hardcore dodging
Cute game and nice start here for 48 hours! Nice job!
