Huescape by mtthwcmpbll

[raw]
made by mtthwcmpbll for LD21 (JAM)
You wake up in a strange place. Smooth, alien surfaces all around you, a voice commands you forward to be tested. You are a rat in an elaborate maze, and something is watching you, trying to learn something from your futile instinct to escape.

Huescape is a (very) short first-person puzzle platformer. Use the traditional WASD/mouse controls to move around. You'll figure out the rest.

Written with Unity 3 using some of the included standard assets (primarily the FPS character controller and the noise post-processing shader), starting about noon Saturday (EST) and submitted for the Jam Sunday about midnight (a couple hours after the competition closed).

Postmorten and details writeup are forthcoming - have fun, and thanks for playing :)

NOTE: I've changed the web URL from DropBox to my own host so that I can see how many people are playing :) They're the same files though, no post-jam changes.

Cool mechanic! I wish you moved a little faster.

Cool idea but controls lack something. Continue the project after?

Cute, if short, puzzle platformer, and that mechanic has a lot of potential. Nice job with the fuzzy filter over the graphics; it gave the game a neat feel.

Thanks for the comments folks - I'm really trying to get some time away to write up more details here on the entry page as well as a detailed postmortem (I promise!).

Good prototype for what could be a really good game.
The huge text in the game was nice, I can see that concept used in a bigger game for the narrative.
The controls were really awkward though, it was hard to press 1-3 while moving with WSAD.

This is an awesome start and I'd love to see where you take this with more time!

Neat idea, but pretty short.

Nice idea, although I've seen almost exactly same mechanic in 4 entries already. It's a bit more interesting in 3d, could be used for some "portal" style puzzle fps.

Love the colour change mechanic! Really cool idea. Wish there was some nice music to go along with it.

Cool idea, truly creative, but it could have used a bit more polish.

That was a clever mechanic! Reminded me a bit of portal/Q.U.B.E/Antichamber albeit too short. The atmosphere was nice but something seemed to be slowing the game down (maybe the noise shader?). I only say this because I've played other unity games on this computer and they were fine but this one lagged a little bit. Aside from that good job!
