Chrysalis Choice by Rob

[raw]
made by Rob for LD24 (COMPO)
Chrysalis Choice is about growth, through time minor and major mutations add to the growth of the focused specimen.

The key to Chrysalis Choice is part two of its name, Choice. While the core mechanics present choice to the player the context resembles an age long argument.

A time lapse video will be uploaded to my website soon:

This didn't make any sense to me so I haven't voted, how do your actions make a difference and is there any method to the choice you make?

I don't really get what I was supposed to be doing, but the graphics and audio were nice :)

Very abstract. While I was playing I was wondering what was the sense, what represented gauges.
And I think that's your goal. So, yeah. 5/5 for me.

Liked the graphics and sound, but didn't really understand it as a game concept.

No real goal for a game, and a bit too random without meaning for an art-piece in my opinion. Well presented, and lovely audio however. Pleasant.

At some point I couldn't see where I am going anymore - so many rectangles ...but nice mood

I like the idea but there's no real win or lose state. I get the message that you were going for though so it communicated that effectively.

The music set the mood well too, so I carried on 'playing' past the point of 'getting it' just because of that

I tried the web link, but unfortunately I'm on a linux machine at the moment and there's no Unity Player available for it. I'll try again from my windows machine when I get home.

I feel sad to say this, but I don't think I get this game at all.

I collected squares, but I'm not seeing a consequence from my actions. I like the upward branching motion at the start... maybe this needs some text to give everything some ramification.

Not really a game per se, but a very nice approach to the theme. I wonder if a slightly more involved system - with more functions than just 'attaching', putting more weight on player intent, having the growth assemble less randomly - would already remedy the perceived lack of control over the results. But then again, it could also destroy the beautiful simplicity...

Although the meaning of the game is not understood very clearly, it's nice to play. Good art work.

The music was pleasant. Initially I didn't see much reason to not just hold down one of the arrow keys, since Darwin was too slow and my choice of path didn't seem to have any meaningful impact on anything. After a while of switching between holding down arrow keys and not pressing anything, I realized the game probably wasn't going to end so I quit.

Liked the music and graphics and overall mood and the idea but I can't understand what are the bars mean (down bars) and choices what does it change just shape or what but nice I like the mood and idea of choices :) but what I noticed that the game after sometime became very fast and choose random choices if I didnt choose anything which increase the left bar and when I choose it increase the right bar? is that correct :)
