Infected Hexes by EvilBrainMan

[raw]
made by EvilBrainMan for LD27 (COMPO)
Hi all, this was my first Ludum Dare and I had a lot of fun making Infected Hexes. The aim of the game is to stop the infected hexes spreading.

Made using Unity and Paint.NET

good concept and really intuitive, but i think that there should be some kinds of lose conditions, such as areas you should protect from infections or something the like xD but I really enjoyed this, keep it up, I am also on my first entry

hmm, for some reason the menu graphics are all glitchy in both the web version and windows version for me. Probably my machine. I'm on an old windows xp.

Addictive. I think this would have done well in Ludum Dare 24: Evolution!

This game really grew on me. The scaling of the challenge is really well done, and the cell-like mechanic was really neat. It forces you to start strategizing once you get up to higher levels. The only thing I would change is the control scheme. The mouse clicking became fatiguing after a while. Perhaps click and hold would work better, where holding the mouse over a cell causes a charging effect and then it's populated.

Could have had some kind of sound effect to help with reinforce the gameplay

Really good idea. I wish there were more different types of infection. I didn't really get the difference between yellow and red. Also being able to loose when the infection reaches 50% of something would be nice. I found the first levels too easy and I had to skip a few of them to reach the real fun!

I really enjoyed playing your game. Great work!

Thanks for all the feedback. @MrRoboman, I will have to load up xp on an old machine and have a look, it will be interesting to see if I get glitches too as I am just using the default Unity GUI

I found the later levels to be much more fun than the early ones. I would like to have a clear loss condition (eg. protect 5/7 bonus cells?) and click + drag would be a blessing

I definitely like the concept. While having limited controls is usually a bad thing, the need to click each tile individually really makes this, I think.

Really nice game, love the look of it. Nice use of the theme. I featured it in my video compilation series of Ludum Dare 27 games, if you would like to check it out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksgU2Iicu2g

Cool idea! Glad you included the speed up button, it was helpful sometimes. The first few levels were maybe too easy, but it got much more interesting.
