Inversionaut by Andy Gainey

[raw]
made by Andy Gainey for LD28 (JAM)
Platformer with a mechanic inversion skill: At will, but only once each level, reverse the behavior throughout the level of the two different platforms and two different enemies. Collect the one bullet in each level for brief advantage over enemies. Acquire hearts as you progress through the levels, to become tougher for the later stages.

Very few levels, but decent promise.

If you want to avoid the music or sound go to either:

I feel like this game was hurt by adhering to theme...levels don't really feel like they were made for the one bullet/one use of the inversion and difficult to play becaue of them.

I like the only drums soundtrack and the colours. :) But it was a bit too hard...

I found the game a little bit unfinished, design-wise. Good ideas that didn't deliver the intended punch. Graphics are pretty good, tho.

The words scrolling around with the rest of the background hurts their readability.

I feel the level design could have benefited with a more vertical approach in leu of long horizontal stretches. Even when taking into consideration the 'speed' rails. I'm talking about making almost every screenful a mini puzzle.

The art direction was heading in a very interesting direction. The floating bots remind me of Mega Man designs.
