The Elemental by Zormon

[raw]
made by Zormon for LD35 (JAM)
The Elemental is a prototype game that gives you the power to transform in a solid, liquid or mist.

- In solid state, you can walk and jump normally.
- When you are liquid, you will slide down slopes, but you can't jump.
- At last, mist form allows you to fly but you lose movement power.

I love the artstyle. Balance is a bit tough, I died a lot and the checkpoint are very far. Nice idea and great execution, congrats

Very beautiful game, the atmosphere and graphics were really good. I died a few times and had to start all over so checkpoints would be nice.

Too bad you didn't have more levels, but really good job.

The game really looks great! The shape shifting mechanic was nice as well. My favorite was the fishbowl :)

Some checkpoints or less punishing levels would probably have made my experience with the game better. I died alot (hehe I'm worthless, all my fault) but having to start over was a bit annoying in the long run.

(Hola desde ESNE- Madrid! :D)

Graphics are really good, but maybe level design needs a twist. At the start of the game, you walk so much without doing anything, and this can be good, but isn't when you die and restart the level from the beginning.

But it's a good work, and a hell of a job in these little time, Congratulations!

Awesome art and design but a bit frustrating the control of the jumper character because the movement inertia.

Congratulations I like it very much

Hey folks, game idea is cool, as well as the game design, but you really need to balance it. I try the first jump like 5 times, character didn't want to jump in time, then was stuck in a wall :/ like bodsey said, checkpoint could be useful ! However I hope to play a post-LD version of this game 'cause it's promising :)

Music and the purple palette gave the game a sense of loneliness in a world that I would have liked to explore a bit more. But as others have said the walk back after dying is a bit on the extreme side.

The visuals are gorgeous and the sound is really sombre and suitable. This has a lot of potential, but it feels like the controls need a lot more tightening up as right now they are very fussy.

Good luck :D

not innovative game play but beautiful atmosphere. Very nice character animation! such a cute little creature :3
The beginning is a bit too long when I just have to walk a lot after I die :/ but i like the tough balance, makes me want to replay.

Those are really nice mechanics and mood. However The game itself is really punishing and sometimes it would be nice not to respawn at the beggining of the level :)

Thanks for all the comments!
Yes, there are a lot of things that need fixing and improving, but we didn't have enough time :( We did what we could in the little time we had. The prototype is here and hopefully we'll improve it and finish it in the future!

Game looked amazing, but ultimately I stopped playing because of the beginning of the level. You walk for what feels like a solid minute before you get to the first ledge.

Great visuals, but the complete restart is pretty annoying yeah.

Nice game, beautiful art style, the mood is good, only two problems one is the cloud mode, maybe a good idea is use a timer to limit the cloud mode, without limit, if we use the cloud the other 2 modes dodn´t have a reason to be used except to fall, the other problem are the checkpoints, some checkpoints could be something good. Good job.

Beautiful graphics and good mechanics but the inertia and the lack of checkpoints is a bit annoying.
However, I would have love to see more levels. This game is a nice and interesting idea!

Nice atmosphere! The music is very eerie and the lighting really adds to the mysterious feeling. Nice light effects too.

The punishment for dying is just brutal. The walking distance until you get to the actual obstacles is too far. If I walk past the "Space to jump" tutorial more than once, it is a bad sign, and calls for a checkpoint further into the level. There is a input delay making jumping really hard.
