{"assets":[],"author_link":"author\/thescragglyman\/","author_name":"TheScragglyMan","cat":"LD #31","categories":["LD #31"],"comments":[],"epoch":1418105220,"event":"LD31","likes":4,"metadata":{"p_key":"83188","p_author":"TheScragglyMan","p_authorkey":"0","p_urlkey":"293919","p_title":"Eyes of envy","p_cat":"LD #31","p_event":"LD31","p_time":"1418105220","p_likes":"4","p_comments":"0","p_status":"WAYBACK","us_key":null,"us_name":null,"us_username":null,"event_start":"1417737600","event_key":"26","event_name":"LD31"},"source_url":"2014\/12\/09\/eyes-of-envy\/","text":"<p style=\"text-align: center\">Okay right!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><em>I have been learning how to code for games since march, i barely call myself a bedroom developer, I enjoy the process, the logic and the design and seeing all those elements pull together.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I find it really hard to understand how some of you out there managed to pull off what you have in the same time it took me to realise i was chewing more than my mouth could handle and draw a \u201csettle here\u201d line just to make it on time.<\/p>\n<p>So i thought, since i\u2019m new to the \u2026 community? \u00a0How about a little GTK (Get To Know) post ^^, \u00a0So yeah tell me a little about yourself, How long you have been indie dev\u2019ing why you started, interests? any advice for those like me who are just starting out on what we all hope will be an enjoyable and painless time.<\/p>\n<p>MY SNIPPET:<br\/>\n<em>I started learning code after i had extinguished all potential out of the event system in RPGMAKERVXACE. \u00a0I enjoyed lacing events together, to create systems and managed to\u00a0implement\u00a0quite a few changes just by abusing this system. \u00a0I then\u00a0realized\u00a0how\u00a0limited it\u00a0was doing things this way and so decided to start learning ruby so i could alter the game \u201cFROM THE SOURCE!!\u201d. \u00a0I\u00a0quickly\u00a0realized\u00a0that actually, i hated ruby. \u00a0So jumped into game maker studio and started learning C++ and C#, i found what i had learnt from RPG maker translated over \u2026 kinda.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Now i\u2019m hoping to move on to different platforms, unity, things like that and hopefully continue learning code. \u00a0I like the logic behind code, the absoluteness it possesses, \u00a0I study Psychology at university in my spare time (haha) and its all basically here say, i like absolutes, i like answers which follow some form, and i think its that element which draws me to learning computer languages.<\/p>\n<p>The process or decision to start making games is fueled by my love of playing them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Sorry for the long post, Comment if you feel like sharing a little about yourself.<\/p>\n<p>As for those who entered Ludum 31, Seriously everyone well done!!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">-TheScragglyMan<\/p>","time":"December 9th, 2014 6:07 am","title":"Eyes of envy","title_was_empty":false}
