{"author_name":"Madball","cat":"LD #22","comments":[],"epoch":1324455060,"likes":0,"metadata":{"p_key":"60117","p_author":"Madball","p_authorkey":"8370","p_urlkey":"95870","p_title":"My post-mortem","p_cat":"LD #22","p_event":"LD22","p_time":"1324455060","p_likes":"0","p_comments":"0","p_status":"UPD5","us_key":"8370","us_name":"Madball","us_username":"madball","event_start":"1323993600","event_key":"8","event_name":"LD22"},"text":"<p>It was my first Ludum Dare Jam, and here is my post-mortem.<\/p>\n <p>I made a game &#8220;Tiny planet&#8221;.<\/p>\n <p><strong>What went right:<\/strong><\/p>\n <ol>\n <li>\u00a0<em>I`m familiar with coding.<\/em> In fact, &#8220;Tiny planet&#8221; is a sequel to &#8220;Tiny world&#8221;, which used the same engine.<\/li>\n <li><em>No time issues.<\/em> I have no difficulties organising my work, and all shedules were completed. Testing also was quick, due to minimalism of my game.<\/li>\n <li><em>Graphics.<\/em> All graphics were easy to make: I already had stickman, kitten and powerups are small, other things were\u00a0built in editor itself. Even the fact i`m bad at drawing didn`t bother me.<\/li>\n <\/ol>\n <p><strong>What went wrong:<\/strong><\/p>\n <ol>\n <li><em>Music.<\/em> I`m bad at composing, more than that, i never used music in games before. I barely made the background music, but i couldn`t make sound effects. Gonna do warmup next time.<\/li>\n <li><em>Difficulty.<\/em> At first I thought like &#8220;What a nice quick game\u00a0I make!&#8221;, but then I realised it`s hard for other people. I had to add a bunch of hints to make it possible.<\/li>\n <\/ol>\n <p><strong>What I learned:<\/strong><\/p>\n <ol>\n <li><em>Making music for games.<\/em><\/li>\n <li><em>Harder isn`t always better.<\/em><\/li>\n <li><em>Too little gravity is bad. <\/em>At first i had usual 9.8 gravity, but i had to change it to 49.<\/li>\n <li><em>Basic embedding swf files in html.<\/em><\/li>\n <\/ol>","time":"December 21st, 2011 3:11 am","title":"My post-mortem"}
