{"author_name":"AgentParsec","cat":"LD #35","comments":[],"epoch":1462755540,"likes":0,"metadata":{"p_key":"5519","p_author":"AgentParsec","p_authorkey":"12468","p_urlkey":"40971","p_title":"Symblyx \u2014 Post-Mortem","p_cat":"LD #35","p_event":"LD35","p_time":"1462755540","p_likes":"0","p_comments":"0","p_status":"UPD5","us_key":"12468","us_name":"AgentParsec","us_username":"\/author\/agentparsec\/","event_start":"1460678400","event_key":"33","event_name":"LD35"},"text":"<p>24 hours left!\u00a0 Still time to try out my compo entry, <a href=\"http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/ludum-dare-35\/?action=preview&amp;uid=12468\">Symblyx<\/a>:<\/p>\n <p><a href=\"http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/ludum-dare-35\/?action=preview&amp;uid=12468\"><img class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-547440\" src=\"http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/symblyx_ss1-150x150.png\" alt=\"symblyx_ss1\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n <p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>The Good:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n <ul>\n <li>MUSIC!\u00a0 I think this is probably some of my best non-dynamic music I&#8217;ve written for LD.<\/li>\n <li>The sliding of the rows was something I wanted to get used to doing, since I may need it for future mobile games.\u00a0 I&#8217;m pleased that I managed to get it to work (semi-)flawlessly.<\/li>\n <li>Graphics:\u00a0 They were simple, but they worked.\u00a0 I also managed to get the still-unnamed character on the side of the board animated pretty well, all things considered.\u00a0 I also like how the bubbles in the background and the random shapes flashing in the corners looked.<\/li>\n <\/ul>\n <p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>The Bad:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n <ul>\n <li>There&#8217;s a bug in the sliding code that causes some problems for people.\u00a0 I think I know what&#8217;s causing it, but unfortunately I also know that I&#8217;d have to completely change the way I did the slide for it to work.\u00a0 At least most people don&#8217;t seem to be having the problem (it&#8217;s triggered by low framerates).<\/li>\n <li>I wasn&#8217;t very clear in the instructions, but you can slide rows and columns by clicking and dragging.\u00a0 I thought it was intuitive, but in retrospect, it would\u00a0really only be intuitive on a mobile platform with a touchscreen.\u00a0 On the computer, I guess there were better ways I could have implemented the sliding.<\/li>\n <li>If I had thought of a way I could have\u00a0made the music dynamic, I would have done it.\u00a0 I tend to write dynamic music a lot, so this was a change for me to write a simple loop instead.\u00a0 As I mentioned above, I still really like it; I just felt it could have been even better if there were a dynamic element to it.<\/li>\n <li>I spent 27 hours in all on it, and even though there were bugs, I just kind of stopped after that.\u00a0 There were plenty more things I could have done to spice it up a little bit, such as more animations for the character, more sound effects for clearing shapes, etc.<\/li>\n <\/ul>\n <p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n <p>Anyway, thanks to everyone who played it!<\/p>","time":"May 8th, 2016 7:59 pm","title":"Symblyx \u2014 Post-Mortem"}
