{"author_name":"belk","cat":"MiniLD","comments":[],"epoch":1353718020,"likes":1,"metadata":{"p_key":"51117","p_author":"belk","p_authorkey":"14219","p_urlkey":"86810","p_title":"And We\u2019re Off!","p_cat":"MiniLD","p_event":"LD25","p_time":"1353718020","p_likes":"1","p_comments":"0","p_status":"UPD5","us_key":"14219","us_name":"belk","us_username":"belk","event_start":"1355443200","event_key":"14","event_name":"LD25"},"text":"<p>We&#8217;re off and running in the Charity Game Jam MiniLD!<\/p>\n <p>The theme for this game jam is the Nintendo Entertainment System. \u00a0The funkytron that McFunkypants wrote up can embed HTML5, Flash, and Unity games. \u00a0Unfortunately, I&#8217;m once again writing mine in Java, so I&#8217;ll use the image overlay he sent out in the e-mail.<\/p>\n <p>5 minutes before the jam started, I was sitting here still wondering what to do. \u00a0I decided on a jousting game along the theme of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Joust_(video_game)\">Joust<\/a>, but not at all like it. \u00a0I&#8217;m hoping to have the camera centered on the player and his horse, and charging along the jousting arena. \u00a0The player will control his speed, and the angle of his lance. \u00a0The combination of speed (power) and lance position (accuracy) will determine how well the player does!<\/p>\n <p>Last game jam taught me a valuable lesson: Don&#8217;t expect the game to come out remotely how you want. \u00a0Well, I&#8217;ve got a concept and I&#8217;ll get as far as I can toward it. \u00a0We&#8217;ll see how it turns out!<\/p>\n <p>I&#8217;m using some of the framework from my last game, Creature Ranger. \u00a0It&#8217;s available in my earlier blog post (from LD24).<\/p>\n <p>I&#8217;ll post some updates as I go.<\/p>\n <p>Good Luck LDers! \u00a0Lets make some games, and support a worthy charity!<\/p>\n \n <p>Tags: <a href=\"http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/tag\/belk\/\" rel=\"tag\">belk<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/tag\/charity-game-jam\/\" rel=\"tag\">Charity Game Jam<\/a><\/p>","time":"November 23rd, 2012 7:47 pm","title":"And We\u2019re Off!"}
