{"author_name":"Omiya Games","cat":"LD #26","comments":[],"epoch":1367716440,"likes":3,"metadata":{"p_key":"42728","p_author":"Omiya Games","p_authorkey":"20557","p_urlkey":"78363","p_title":"Post-compo improvements","p_cat":"LD #26","p_event":"LD26","p_time":"1367716440","p_likes":"3","p_comments":"0","p_status":"UPD5","us_key":"20557","us_name":"Omiya Games","us_username":"\/author\/taro\/","event_start":"1366934400","event_key":"16","event_name":"LD26"},"text":"<p>I&#8217;m not exactly <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ludumdare.com\/compo\/2013\/05\/03\/why-add-a-post-compo-version-right-now\/\">fond of doing this<\/a>, but the complaints were too strong to ignore. \u00a0I&#8217;ve decided to create a new web build to address the issues below. \u00a0Let me be clear that\u00a0<strong>you should play the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ludumdare.com\/compo\/ludum-dare-26\/?action=preview&amp;uid=20557\">original build<\/a> and rate it first<\/strong>\u00a0before playing this one. \u00a0Otherwise, that&#8217;s unfair to everyone.<\/p>\n <p>Played it? \u00a0Good. \u00a0Here&#8217;s the new webplayer:<\/p>\n <p><a href=\"http:\/\/wp.me\/P3bFDA-5m\">http:\/\/wp.me\/P3bFDA-5m<\/a><\/p>\n <p>It contains the following improvements:<\/p>\n <ol>\n <li><span style=\"line-height: 13px\">Significantly\u00a0improved the controls. \u00a0This was done by combining several methods:<\/span>\n <ol>\n <li>Re-calculating the center of gravity to where the camera is focused<\/li>\n <li>Increasing the gravity on the cube you&#8217;re controlling as you get bigger.<\/li>\n <li>Increasing movement assistance as your cube gets bigger.<\/li>\n <\/ol>\n <\/li>\n <li>Added camera controls via mouse and right-control stick on the Xbox 360 controller (only supports Windows).<\/li>\n <li>Fixed the Goal&#8217;s 3D text shader to not show through objects.<\/li>\n <li>Changed the tutorial level to be more straight. \u00a0This makes the arrow direction less deceptive for beginning players. Also added camera control instructions in that level.<\/li>\n <li>Rocket boosters are adjusted to be more effective.<\/li>\n <li>Fixed bug where newly lit objects will sometimes not stick to the cube.<\/li>\n <li>Added a brief 0.1 second delay before the next object sticks to the cube. \u00a0This makes the poles in &#8220;Level 1&#8221; actually collapse first before it sticks to you. \u00a0Also note that that level has changed to\u00a0accommodate\u00a0for this change<\/li>\n <li>Slightly increased the threshold necessary to pick up objects. \u00a0Only slightly, though!<\/li>\n <li>Picking up bouncy spheres (and potato!) no longer makes you bouncy.<\/li>\n <\/ol>\n <p>Please tell me in the comments below how these improvements fare to the original build. \u00a0I really want to work this into a full game in the near-future, so the sooner I know how to improve the game, the better!<\/p>\n <p>And once again, thanks for all the help!<\/p>\n \n <p>Tags: <a href=\"http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/tag\/post-compo\/\" rel=\"tag\">post-compo<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/tag\/the-sentient-cube\/\" rel=\"tag\">The Sentient Cube<\/a><\/p>","time":"May 4th, 2013 8:14 pm","title":"Post-compo improvements"}
