{"author_name":"MiniBobbo","cat":"MiniLD","comments":[],"epoch":1376073360,"likes":1,"metadata":{"p_key":"42109","p_author":"MiniBobbo","p_authorkey":"22584","p_urlkey":"77732","p_title":"Power Grab post compo","p_cat":"MiniLD","p_event":"LD27","p_time":"1376073360","p_likes":"1","p_comments":"0","p_status":"UPD5","us_key":"22584","us_name":"MiniBobbo","us_username":"\/author\/minibobbo\/","event_start":"1377216000","event_key":"18","event_name":"LD27"},"text":"<p>So I&#8217;ve been working on my Mini Ludum Dare 44 7dRTS entry Power Grab and finally have it to a level that I wanted to be for the actual competition.\u00a0 I got some great feedback and incorporated most of it and feel that the gameplay itself is now pretty polished.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s some of the changes:<\/p>\n <ul>\n <li>The nasty random crashing bug is fixed.\u00a0 It was actually a floating point arithmatic error and took forever to track down&#8230;<\/li>\n <li>Accuracy of your attacking units is increased.\u00a0 So much so that you now can actually hit individual things!<\/li>\n <li>Win and loss conditions implemented (destroy all opponent&#8217;s power stations and lose all yours respectively)<\/li>\n <li>Multiple playable levels<\/li>\n <li>AI got some work and no longer randomly gets stuck.\u00a0 Also, added different difficulties<\/li>\n <li>Quick (really quick and ugly) menu system for setting up a game.<\/li>\n <li>Animations polished<\/li>\n <li>Camrea scrolls instead of jumping, making it much easier to understand what is happening.<\/li>\n <li>A &#8220;fire every unit here&#8221; button<\/li>\n <\/ul>\n <p>Still left to do is implement keyboard shortcuts and make the buttons appear near the selected units, but after that my basic feature list is complete.<\/p>\n <p>So now that I&#8217;m nearly through my feedback list and I have a fairly polished game I&#8217;m actually wondering&#8230;<\/p>\n <p>Is it any fun?<\/p>\n <p>I mean, I enjoy it, but I made it so a portion (maybe a large portion) of my enjoyment comes from that.\u00a0 I have ideas for additional units and gameplay options, but I&#8217;m not sure it is worth it.\u00a0 Anyway, if you play it and enjoy it and can think of any additional features or cool unit ideas let me know.\u00a0<\/p>\n <p>If you want to give it a shot, the post compo version (Java JAR file) is here: <a href=\"https:\/\/dl.dropboxusercontent.com\/u\/103108185\/PowerGrab\/PowerGrabPostCompo.jar\">https:\/\/dl.dropboxusercontent.com\/u\/103108185\/PowerGrab\/PowerGrabPostCompo.jar<\/a><\/p>\n <p>Compo version here for comparison: <a href=\"https:\/\/dl.dropboxusercontent.com\/u\/103108185\/PowerGrab\/PowerGrab.jar\">https:\/\/dl.dropboxusercontent.com\/u\/103108185\/PowerGrab\/PowerGrab.jar<\/a><\/p>\n <p>&nbsp;<\/p>","time":"August 9th, 2013 1:36 pm","title":"Power Grab post compo"}
