PATRIOT โ post mortem and JAM vs COMPO
Another game jam, another set of firsts!

PATRIOT is my first “jam” category submission. Although I did work on games in teams, my Ludum Dare’s where always in the solo comp format. This time around, I had very limited time, so instead i decided to ask a couple of people for help, use some external assets and still be able to submit something. And I’m very happy with the results. (Although the game did came out a bit too hard/not engaging enough so most people don’t see the plot-twist ending)
So, comparing JAM to my previous COMPO experiences:
[+] It takes less time to make something interesting (~20h total among 4 people for PATRIOT)
[+] It’s more relaxed! I didn’t stress out a bit, even thou other people counted on me.
[+] Working together is fun, even if only via skype
[+] You may get to know new people / new techniques
[-] You DON’T get to learn things the hard way – so you don’t learn that much as in comp
[-] Voting only works on the account that submitted the game! :/
That’s a lot of [+]’es! I’m going to do this again! Who’s with me ๐ ?
