Need your advice please!

Hi everyone,

another LD coming, and I really don’t want to miss it. For once, I’m actually busy with other things and have limited time (because of birthday and such stupid things). BUT I won’t pussy out just because of that, no matter would it be I use much less time, there will still be a game, for sure!

My consideration is from two options, and I would like your help to choose! Either I go for the jam instead with more time, and might convince some friends to team up. But that kind of feels lame since I would be able to use 3rd party assets which feels kinda lame. The other option would be to spend more effort on design a  really small concept which is still fun to play, and execute it in the compo despite very limited time.

So, fellow masters of LD, what is your advice?

(PS. It might be a bit too rude to cancel my birthday party with gf and family and everything)

Really just depends on weither or not you can come up with some good concept. Also, no one is forcing you to use third party assets and doing it with a couple of friends would probably be a lot more fun :)

Making a game in one day or less works, but your concept must fit your time.

I’d give the compo a try, you can always switch to the jam if the game is definitely not ready enough.

Let it depend on the theme and how much you get brainwaves when the comp starts. if yo don’t feel it, do the jam..

Thanks for all tips! You’re right, I’ll decide when I know the theme depending on what I feel. Some of my friends were interested in jamming so I think that would be fine. And could be great to do it as a team for once!
