{"author_name":"barret907k","cat":"LD #31","comments":[{"author_name":"Rosencatz","time":"December 5, 2014 9:40 pm","epoch":1417833600,"text":"Nice concept, good luck!","spam":"N"}],"epoch":1417833480,"likes":0,"metadata":{"p_key":"24517","p_author":"barret907k","p_authorkey":"14910","p_urlkey":"59924","p_title":"Wooo Ludum 31","p_cat":"LD #31","p_event":"LD31","p_time":"1417833480","p_likes":"0","p_comments":"1","p_status":"UPD5","us_key":"14910","us_name":"barret907k","us_username":"barret907k","event_start":"1417737600","event_key":"26","event_name":"LD31"},"text":"<p>Missed the last ludum due to a local jam so this will be the third one this year. \u00a0Super excited. \u00a0I came up with a couple ideas and I think I&#8217;ve landed on one.<\/p>\n <p>So my first idea was to have a metroidvania game where the map view would be the whole game. \u00a0So you would zoom in and the game would be very pixelated while you traversed the world. \u00a0The problem I have with this is it isn&#8217;t unique. \u00a0It doesn&#8217;t really use the theme in a very good way.<\/p>\n <p>Another idea in the same vain was to have more of a mystery\/detective game with the same map as the overworld. \u00a0This would allow you to travel between places and try and put clues based on the map. \u00a0This has the same problems as the last idea.<\/p>\n <p>An Idea in different vain was to have a puzzle game where it would slowly reveal an overworld that would end up on one screen. \u00a0So you would beat a level and it would show up in the overworld and eventually all the levels would spell something out or solve a puzzle. \u00a0Again this had the same problem as my previous ideas.<\/p>\n <p><strong>In my game you will play as an adventuring detective. \u00a0You will play in a zelda esque view and dungeon where you travel from screen to screen however whenever you go to a new screen the world gets smaller because all the screen ends up staying on your screen. \u00a0Can you solve the mystery before you are too small? \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n <p>I like this idea because it uses the theme to provide the constraint of the game. \u00a0Now some challenges with this idea.<\/p>\n <ul>\n <li>Is this going to be fun? \u00a0Having yourself get smaller and losing focus on yourself is not necessarily fun. \u00a0The game will have to be tweaked a lot. Maybe fast speed so the game is quick. \u00a0You get stronger the smaller you are.<\/li>\n <li>Is this more of an adventure or detective game? \u00a0This will have to be tweaked. \u00a0Its hard to tell at the moment what is going to be fun. \u00a0I will probably try a mix of both and see which one turns out to be more fun.<\/li>\n <li>Can I get this done in 48 hours? \u00a0Isn&#8217;t this always the challenge with these things. \u00a0Sound and art are always tough for me to get in these things.<\/li>\n <\/ul>","time":"December 5th, 2014 9:38 pm","title":"Wooo Ludum 31"}
