(Late) First beginnings
Hi all,
Well. I’m starting this jam a bit late, aren’t I?
Humble beginnings
I’ve thrown many ideas around today and one definitely stuck. My main shtick is the whole screen being filled with a map but running in the background is a first person emergency-escape-spaceship-labyrinth-hell-zone.
As the player, you will only see the map on screen and will have to navigate yourself with the mouse and keys by paying close attention to the positional sound (and the markings on the map which correspond with the sound). I’m working on ideas to make this more interesting than just an a to b (and less of a maze) but won’t spoil too much at this point. I’m looking to flex my sound design muscles as much as possible here.
I remember an indie game from some PC Gamer disc having a similar concept (guiding yourself using sound on a completely blank screen) and really enjoying that. If you made that back in 07’ish (I think) and are reading this, thanks for the inspiration!
I’ll be using Unity / Wings3D and Logic to create this thing. I’m not sure what I’ll use to make the graphical map yet!
