I'd love some tips about what I'm supposed to be doing in the middle of the jam. I have a lot of work at the start and towards the end, but in the middle I still fall back to being a programmer. This time around, after we did some brainstorming and decided on an idea, I spent quite a bit of time writing things down and defining them in a bit more detail. After half a day I felt like most things were defined well enough that everyone else could work on the implementation. I had to add and change a couple things, help around a bit, but honestly the design doc didn't change much. After that I felt like I couldn't really do much until the game was kind of playable so I could playtest to see what works ok and what doesn't. So I started programming and helping the others out.\n\nSo, fellow game designers, what do you do in the middle of a game jam? Do you all have secondary roles?\n\nI'd love to hear what you guys do, but I'd also love it if you check out our game :P\n\nCheck out Packed Ride at:\nhttps:\/\/ldjam.com\/events\/ludum-dare\/54\/packed-ride\n\n\n","comments":0,"created":"2023-10-03T14:47:16Z","files":[],"files-timestamp":0,"id":381040,"love":3,"love-timestamp":"2023-10-03T19:49:49Z","meta":[],"modified":"2023-10-03T19:49:49Z","name":"It was fun but it's nice to be (mostly) done","node-timestamp":"2023-10-03T15:05:57Z","parent":373091,"parents":[1,5,9,371459,373091],"path":"\/events\/ludum-dare\/54\/packed-ride\/it-was-fun-but-its-nice-to-be-mostly-done","published":"2023-10-03T15:05:57Z","scope":"public","slug":"it-was-fun-but-its-nice-to-be-mostly-done","subsubtype":"","subtype":"","type":"post","version":1183086},"node_metadata":{"n_key":"381040","n_urlkey":"437860","n_parent":"373091","n_path":"\/events\/ludum-dare\/54\/packed-ride\/it-was-fun-but-its-nice-to-be-mostly-done","n_slug":"it-was-fun-but-its-nice-to-be-mo","n_type":"post","n_subtype":"","n_subsubtype":"","n_author":"57673","n_created":"1696344436","n_modified":"1696362589","n_version":"1183086","n_status":"WAYBACK"},"source_url":"https:\/\/ldjam.com\/events\/ludum-dare\/54\/packed-ride\/it-was-fun-but-its-nice-to-be-mostly-done","text":"Game jams are fun, but they sure are exhausting as well, so I'm glad the main grind is now in the past :)\n\n![mainMenuBackground (Small).png](\/\/\/raw\/941\/e\/z\/5f44c.png)\n\nAny other teams who have a mostly dedicated game designer?
