It's not expensive to host an online game!

Our game, Different Strokes is a huge, sprawling labyrinth of user-generated content.

Several versions of images for each and every painting submitted by users must be uploaded to a cloud server, and loaded in when the game is played.

It must cost a fortune to host all those images and send hundreds of them to every client on every play session, right?

Nah.

The storage and cloud functions are both handled through Google Cloud, which has some pretty generous free tiers. I'm looking forward to hosting this game for as long as possible, and with costs like these, I'm not worried about the future.

Feel free to check out our game if you're curious what can be done in a weekend with some basic cloud tech.

Cheers!
