I saw a lot of people complaining about the theme but I think this is a bit against the idea of a game jam. This is my first game jam but as I see it the restrictions in time and subject are what drives you to be creative, think outside the box and maybe make games that you wouldn't normally make, as I did.
Because of that I love the theme! I love every theme ;) A good example of thinking outside the box is pre-alphabuild. I didn't make this game but just really liked it, I liked the graphics, music and the mood but I especially liked the tetris-like mechanic combined with the RTS genre. I think the developers would have never come up with this idea if it wasn't for this theme. So I just wanted to say ALL HAIL THE THEME!! :D https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/pre-alpha-build
