Getting On: your 80's games heroes 30 years after

Getting On is a retro-style comic take on 80s arcade games. It has 3 minigames inspired by Pac-man, Donkey Kong and Q-Bert. Now, 30 years on, the original game consoles are battered and glitchy and so are the characters...
In Pac-man - The Divorce, Pac-man is chased not by ghosts but by Ms Pac-man and her lawyers as they all compete to gobble up the dots (coins), that is, Pac-man's hard-earned dosh.
In Donkey Kong Senior, Mario is still going strong (well, maybe not quite so strong...) and is still quite lethal - he slams enemies with his Zimmer frame.
Q-Bert was always a bit whacky - sadly he’s now a hopeless dope head and calls himself Q-Bud.
The glitches that appear in each level must be run over - to stop them slowing things down even further, and to boost flagging battery power.
We spent almost a whole day brainstorming game ideas before we started on the actual games. Boris did the graphics, music and programming, using his homebrew WebGL game library (https://github.com/borisvanschooten/jgame.js), and LMMS for the music. Val did the game sounds. Smartphone mike for recording, Audacity for audio processing of game sounds. Some waveforms were sourced from and processed on JXFR before being further mangled with Audacity.
Some of Val’s audio equipment ...

Rest of the team (aka our Vomcats, who inspired several of our previous games) were not so productive. Vomcat1 hangs out with pears...

... while Vomcat2 wasted Loveapple’s VR setup.

We were powered by junk food, meat, sugar, and wine (and catfood???) ...

Greetings from our urban gamedev studio!
