Ricochet Berserk by auto_suggestion
A puzzle game where you shoot a magic ricocheting bolt that turns the victim into a rampaging, mindless monster. That monster will eat the closest person, friend and foe alike. When you've ensured all the guards are either dead or have been turned into monsters (what are you, some kind of serial killer?), you can make your daring escape and complete the level.
Inspired heavily by the turn-based roguelike genre. The ricocheting magic bolt mechanic is inspired (stolen) straight from a roguelike named POWDER. Loads of fun if you like roguelikes, check that out.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE PLAYING. You'll probably have a terrible time comprehending my half-baked game.
Some things that are not obvious from playing the game:
* You can use WASD or arrow keys to move.
* You can use your left mouse button to aim your zap.
* Pressing anything will make everyone take a turn.
* Every time you move, everyone will take a turn.
* M means monster, E means exit.
* You can't move onto the exit spot before all guards are dead or monsters.
* Imagine a diagonal zap as a diagonal line from one corner of a tile to the opposite corner of a tile. Then imagine it bouncing off the wall. Which tile will it end up in?
* After you've zapped someone, you can't zap anymore.
Things that suck:
* After winning or losing, the screen will go black. If you want to make sure you actually won, you can *clenches jaws* open the Javascript console (Ctrl+Shift+J).
* Some art is still placeholder status.
* Zap behavior is hard to figure out because the direction is unclear (due to placeholder art).
* There's only one puzzle (I have a couple, but I ran out of time to create a selector and load the levels) EDIT: I included some HTML links *facepalm* which you can click to try the other levels.
Lessons learned:
* Practice tools before the jam.
* Practice tools before the jam.
* No, really. Practice tools BEFORE the jam.
I spent about 50% of my time trying to figure out how to do things in Javascript and/or Melon.JS. I just wasn't familiar enough with the process. Silly me.

I think the game has some potential. You should spend some time in a post Compo version and explain the mechanics a bit more :) good effort.
