Don't Steal My Treasure! by dan.marchand

[raw]
made by dan.marchand for LD33 (JAM)
You are a lowly Goblin keeping watch on a dungeon for your master, one of the great Lords of Evil. Unfortunately for you, heroes have discovered that your dungeon is incredibly under-protected, and is full of gold.

Use every resource at your disposal to keep the heroes from getting your master's treasure, or suffer dire consequences.

Controls:

W/A/S/D: Move

Q: Ice Trap
E: Fire Trap

How to Play:

Move throughout the dungeon and keep the heroes from reaching your treasure.

Bumping into a hero will knock it back and deal damage. The damage you deal is based on your 'Power' stat. Defeating a hero will award you with gold!

Place traps using the Q and E keys. These cost gold, so use them carefully!

Freeze traps freeze an enemy temporarily. Fire Traps kill an enemy, and damage everything on the screen based on how much HP it had.

At the end of each wave, you'll receive bonus gold based on the amount of treasure you have remaining. Surviving the later waves requires you to perform well early on!

You can spend gold boosting your Speed/Power stats as well. Be warned that the cost will increase with each upgrade, so decide carefully!

Tips:

Use Freeze traps to keep pesky Rangers at bay.

Fire Traps go very well with the bulky Knights. Hitting one of them will likely clear the screen.

Kill Priests quickly, as they tend to heal their allies!

Watch the mini-map in the upper right corner.

If you lose, try better trap placement next time.

This is a really cool idea. I really enjoyed your game. Its too bad there isn't any sound :). This seems like something you could work on post compo. The mini map is really great I was planning to do one for my own game but it was just too much. Good show!

A fun tower defense starter. The controls felt a bit "rubbery" as it seemed to take the controls a second to respond. The traps and upgrades are a nice touch. They felt a bit too powerful until the Elves showed up. Great work!

This is really fun!
It's a little rough around the edges, but impressive given the time constraint.

I really love the Oryx tileset too and it's very funny that you featured the goblin sprite. It's about time he got a staring role. :)

All in all, nice work.

I didn't get that I can fight the enemies directly. I was evading them, trying to place traps but couldn't so I was a little frustrated at first. I accidentally bumped into an enemy and finally got it. It was a lot more fun from there.
It feels like the game could well be expanded upon. I would like to be able to block certain paths to better utilise my traps for example. Lots of potential here.
Good job!

The idea was good. The graphics were pretty solid too. I don't know if others experienced this but I only had one resolution option. Anyways, great submission

Pretty interesting game, it is surprising that even with the small amount of time to develop the gameplay is so well balanced and has a lot of potential to be expanded.

Really nice chest defense game. It easily immerse you into guarding the treasure. A little bit of music would make its job :D
