You are the monster by Dasginger
DESCRIPTION:
The (not very) evil empire has built a nice shiny castle right in your back garden, and no self-respecting overlord would stand for that! Use your minions and spells to teach them a lesson!
DETAILS:
A reverse tower defense game made with C# and XNA.
CONTROLS:
WASD - Camera movement
Click - Select spell / cast selected
Escape - Cancel current skill
NOTES:
This entry would probably fit the theme a lot better if I'd had time to add the cutscenes that I had planned, but I'm still reasonably happy with how it turned out. There was also supposed to be different tower types and more spells, but I couldn't create the art needed for those in time, 48 hours passes so quickly!
This game requires the .NET framework and XNA.
If you already have those (or want to get them yourself), you can download the binary release of this game.
If you don't have the software installed, choose the installer release. This will install all necessary software and remove it all when uninstalled (if you want). The game can be uninstalled from the control panel, listed as "LD33."
Tested on Windows 7, confirmed working on Windows 8.
I hope you enjoy my game!

I think it'd be worth installing something once if it meant I could play a whole bunch of entries, but I haven't seen any other XNA games yet this year. Thanks for your interest at least!
And also in response to other XNA comments, XNA is actually coming back slightly now, since MS started recommending the community built continuation - time will tell how well it will do though, with a lot of people already shifted to alternatives. But getting a bit off-topic from the game now :)
Selecting abilities was a bit annoying, specially the disable, because you had to click back and forth. Being able to use the 1-4 number keys would have been great.
It needs to be harder, I think. It was incredibly short and I beat it first time.
