Play as the woolly monster, Freddy, as he destroys villages in hope to get the most gold he can! Use WASD to move Freddy and navigate the menu, space for actions, and ESC for menu.
Quite good game overall. Good job on the procedural level design!
It may lacks background music and screams of people I eat :-)
And I didn't understand the life mechanism. Some houses hurt me, some don't... I lost without understanding why.
Otherwise, great job!
Something I didn't mention, when you break certain buildings, it will spawn a number of villagers, there is a moderatelly low chance that it will be a knight, while crushing any villager will give you XP points to level up, the knights will take part of your health with them, it's best to avoid them.
This is a solid foundation for a game, nothing more but also nothing less. In the current state, it's not too much fun, because you basically just walk around and keep space pressed in front of houses. The only other interaction, which is avoiding the knights, has some potential, in that you have to try to keep away from those while destroying everything else, but it's also problematic, since often they spawn and immediately hit you and you can't do anything about it. Overall, this could be interesting if developed further, maybe with different enemy types, some that shoot at you or some whose line of sight you have to avoid in a stealth game kind of way. The progression through gaining exp and thus increasing your damage was nice.
I quite like the random village generation and the leveling up aspects, but as others have said, dying as soon as you destroy a house and a knight pops up is a bit unfair. I also think some music and/or extra sound effects would help. Additionally, some more purpose for the player would be neat, since the game is basically a village destroying sandbox to get gold (which you can't spend!).
On the whole, it's a nice package for a compo submission!
Looks like you got a lot done while building this game, but not quite enough for me to have a lot of fun with it yet. Keep working on it and you could have a neat little game on your hands. Good start, keep it up.
